Chocolate and Peanut Butter

Peanut butter goes really well with chocolate. Besides adding protein to a guilty pleasure, it sends your taste buds soaring. I like chocolate and peanut butter in little candy cups, such as those made by Reese's or store brand. A friend's son once made a refrigerated no-bake dessert of chocolate and peanut butter that was very nice. Another way to enjoy this tremendous flavor is to chop up the cups and stir them into or to top cookie dough or ice cream. A distinctive surprising way to use them might be to roll out some biscuit dough into a rectangle on a floured board, sprinkle the chopped chocolate and peanut butter cups around, then roll the dough into a log. Bake and cool according to package directions. Then slice and serve for chocolate and peanut butter goodness.

I love chocolate and peanut butter as well. I enjoy getting Mr.Goody bars because it is just chocolate and nuts and it doesn't have to much peanuts in it to wash out the chocolate taste like some do. I also like resecces as well.

I haven't had peanut butter for years, I used to buy the one with the chunky nuts in, very tasty, and very moreish but also very high in sat fat. Personally it would be too sweet and sickly on my palate to have both chocolate and peanut butter together. I like it on toast, but without the chocolate! Mind you it's quite high in protein too, but like everything, taken in moderation or as a special treat.

I must come across as real fussy, well I guess I am with food, but hey, I know what I like. I shall look forward to your future experiment my friend.

Hey wolfs! The Ancient Romans had a Latin motto: "Non gusto disputandem." It means there's no accounting for tastes or to each his own. I don't find your preferences about chocolate and peanut butter to be fussy, just your personal opinion. I value your friendship here on mylot.

Hey there wolfs! I can see where you are coming from regarding chocolate and peanut butter together possibly being too much of a good thing, unless it is taken in moderation. For me, the hormone balancing endorphines of the chocolate and the protein of the peanut butter taken together make it highly desirable, not to mention the flavor. Maybe someday I'll experiment and come up with a form of this you could enjoy.

One of the cakes I bake for our bake sale for the senior citizen center is a peanut butter cake with chocolate fudge frosting. It's one of the first items to get sold out. There truely is a passion for peanut butter and chocolate. It does remind me of being a kid again and enjoying those Reese's. I don't eat them anymore because they make my teeth hurt, but the cake seems to be a nice balance because all the flavor is there but it's not too sweet.

That's great that you share peanut butter and chocolate for a cause, kprof. And I can appreciate the dental issues prompting the cake version. At least that way you can find your way to what works for you, in pursuit of chocolate and peanut butter awesomeness.

Thanks for sharing this! Now you are ruining my diet! But seriously, I would love to try what you have said. I love Reese's, too. I am sure my kids will love this one.

Hey jenny! Glad you liked my chocolate and peanut butter post. I've loved that combination ever since I was a kid. And there are so many more things you can do with the candies. Just let your imagination loose with whatever's on hand and as much chocolate and peanut butter as you can reasonably fit in.

I also like to press balls of cookie dough with chopped chocolate and peanut butter candies into muffin tins and bake until crisp, then add ice cream with more as mix-ins and still more for sprinkles. Have a great day!

You could also try baking chocolate peanut butter candy cookies, then sandwiching frozen yogurt (with or without more chopped candies mixed in) between two cookies, wrapping in plastic wrap and freezing for a warm weather treat. Kind of a chocolate peanut butter French macaron (not macaroon).

@RiverLight and @ajithlal: Good to see you both joining in this discussion on chocolate and peanut butter. Sadly, you are right, the cost of everything, including chocolate and peanut butter is indeed rising. I think I read something somewhere about chocolate agricultural workers insisting on a pay increase. That would not be an unusual occurrence these days.

Hello ajithlal, thanks for commenting on chocolate and peanut butter. I think most people agree that it's a great flavor combination. There's just something about these two things that, while they're fine separately, taken together is absolutely wonderful!

I disagree. Putting peanut butter or peanuts in chocolate is an absolutely terrible thing to do. Chocolate should not be wasted that way. Of course I hate peanuts in any form. Even the smell makes me gag.

Well, stealthy, thanks for showing us another side of the coin in thbis discussion on chocolate and peanut butter. I feel the same way about certain other foods and people do not understand that about me at all. You have my compassion, even though my opinion is different than yours.
