Need help for opening a Paypal account.

I am in India. Besides an e- mail id I had to submit my PAN Card number and home address to open a PayPal account. It was an unverified account and no PayPal transaction is possible for unverified accounts in India. To get a verified account I needed to submit my Bank account number with IFSC number of the bank and purpose code for my main transactions. It is selected as freelance works. Then PayPal send two small amounts to my Bank account and I needed to submit that 2 amounts in PayPal account verification part. It was all that needed. I got message from PayPal that my account is verified. So your nation is important in procedures to open PayPal account.

As far as I know a debit card is sufficient to serve your purpose and you do not need any sponsor to open the said account.
