Do you shop at multiple stores to save money?

Once or twice I have checked the sales at different stores and planned my shopping around which stores had the best sales. That would usually require multiple stops.. and it got to be more than I could handle. Now I just shop at one store and get everything I need there. But, sometimes when I go to a different store for whatever reason (because it's closer and I just need one thing, or I need something my typical store doesn't carry) I'll look around and check the prices. If they have good prices I might stock up on a few things. I know a lot of people purposely go to different stores because it saves money each week. What is your shopping style?

The Wal-Mart two blocks away from my house has turned into a Super Center. So, its supposed to make my grocery shopping be in just one place. But the grocery store in the same area would once in a while make these great deals just to compete with the Walmart. Therefore I would always be going in both stores to find the best deal. Good thing they are both close to home!

I have 2 Walmart Super Centers nearby.. but I hate them both. I avoid them most of the time.. but occasionally have to go there for something I can't find elsewhere.. and if I'm there I'll look at what they have that's cheaper than my usual store and stock up.

I get cranberry juice for 1.50 at one supermarket. At the others it costs 2.28 so I need to get it at the cheaper price. I get kitchen roll and black rubbish bags for a cheap town center shop. I look at a site called Money Supermarket to see which is the cheapest supermarket for the item. I am saving money by shopping at seven different stores.

I have about five stores I will shop at. None of them are Dollar Stores. I do not hit them every month, and three of them, when I do shop, are major stock ups. That is Aldi, Sam's and an independent grocery that has some scratch and dent stuff and some bulk things, especially for baking. In town we go to Dillon's for the sales, liking their meat and produce, and gaining fuel points and being able to use double coupons. Wal Mart is the least favorite, but it cheaper. Dillons carries more stuff. I try to stay out of the stores as much as possible, though, as the more I am in the stores the more I spend.

Same here. I see anything on clearance and I'll buy it.. even if I don't really need it.

Years ago I used to do that and go around different stores to try and save money but, now I find that it actually doesn't really save that much and then I am also watsing more money on petrol going between them all.

I always do that. Fortunately, I have loads of different brands of groceries and supermarkets close, even like little dollar stores which mostly carry food and toiletries instead of household items and toys. I'm really cautious about everyday grocery shopping, because you could save loads of money if you know where to buy what kind of food. The only thing that bothers me is thta we don't have a proper, profitable couponing system in my country.

Sounds like you've got it figured out. Too bad about the coupons.

I do that as well haha and sometimes it is a good idea, but usually i end up spending more money than if i would have gone to a store that doesn't have a discount in the main moment.I think it's because every time i see something on a good price i'm like nice maybe i should get it because later it wont have discount and will be much more expensive so yeah like i said i end up spending a lot of money by buying a lot of cheep stuff.:D But at the end of the day i think it's a good buy.:)

You are initially spending more to stock up.. but it saves money in the long run.

I have to measure whether it would be worth it considering the amount of money spent on gas compared to how much I'd save at that store. Like if the store with some cheaper items are 20 minutes away, I might not save enough to justify going.

I have at times. But honestly, sometimes it's a hit or miss to what I save. I usually go to WM for a few things, but then it's on the other side of town so if they don't have the mark downs I was hoping for I'm not a happy girl. But if there's time I'll stop at Target to see if they have anything which lately has been next to nill (did pretty well last summer on mark downs) and then I'll hit up a thrift store that also has free bread. Otherwise I just walk across the street to Aldi and call it a day.

I went to Aldi's a few times, but found their prices weren't that great.

I live on a island and there a relatively few stores here. One of the stores is quite large and you can find almost anything there. Unfortunately it is also the most expensive place to shop. We can save a lot money if we do our shopping in the small stores instead and I like to visit them as often as possible. Groceries and many other things are less expensive in those shops, but you can't find everything there. I usually buy as many things as I can in the small shops, and then I buy the rest of the things in the large shop where they have almost everything. It would be easier to buy everything in the large store, but it would also be much more expensive, and I prefer to visit two different stores if I am able to save some money.

Supermarket in Santiago de Chile - This is the supermarket where I buy my groceries.
I have a big supermarket at walking distance from my house. I buy most of what I need there. Lately I have been buying veggies, fruit and meat at the farmers market. It`s very far from my home but at walking distance from the hospital. So thta when I go to the hospital, I buy there.

Hi, we have many grocery shops near our house. We give the list of grocery and have home delivery. I don't check the prices of goods. But while buying vegetables or fruits I check the prices and buy them where they are cheaper. In our location prices are high for fruits and vegetables. I go for some distance away and buy them at cheaper rates.

Hi friend, there is nothing wrong in checking prices in various stores and buy things in a cheap rate. Mostly i will shop in the same store and not interested in going multiple shops, in some cases i will shop in the other store for discount and offers

Yes I do that quiet often I will go to different dollar stores and different grocery stores to try and save I know some people think it is a lot of gas but for me all the stores I go to that are seperate are all very close together and not far from my house at all. I tried the match it thing at Wal Mart and still do at times but it is so time consuming and takes forever to get out of the store! I just think they should go ahead and lower the prices and not put us as the customer through that!!!

I am happy to make several stops at multiple stores if I can get the bargains that I need. Money is a precious commodity and I do nopt like to waste if it is at all possible for me. Sometimes you can't get all he good deals by one stop shopping. Sometimes you just have to go that extra mile.

Like you I did that too before, going to different shops for comparison of prices. It's good to know all of the shops first, to familiarize with their prices so that at a later time you'll know in which shops you'll get a good deal to save time in window shopping every time you would need something. But I'm not too fond of shopping now so I just go where I'd like to shop and buy things I need there. But also if I have the time and I feel like going around then I check more shops that are new for practical reasons and for future purposes as well. Good day!

Well,I do shop different things at different stores. One of the reasons is the discount and price variation i see for things in the stores. And second thing is the quality of things.Quality of things especially edible things are really important. But all these needs careful analysis of things and also we should at things properly. There are times we get good discount at different stores. We need to consider the price and quality before shopping anything anywhere.Lot of people make those mistakes.Sometimes it makes sense to shop at big malls than just stores or supermarkets due to the choice of things and the prices. Most of them might give wholesale prices at times.I do stock up a few things like you when prices are good. But ia m careful not to stock up electronic goods and mostly is the FMCG stuffs that i do the stocking. It helps in the long run of things. And also we are bound to use it sometime or the other. But then i do shop only at stores near me.Once in a while i might shop by travelling a lot. Some of my purchases are also online and that also helps em a lot in saving. So its like different strategies for different stores at different times. Thanks!

That depends on how far away the stores are from each other, if they are walking distance, i would walk to different stores to save money. I have time and i need the extra exercise.

I use to shop at different store to save money because they are cheap but then I found out that I spend more because of the traveling fare. So, I just shop at a store that sells all the items that I was looking for. It saves time and travel expenses.
