There was a time, in king's rule, when they had not sufficient means to keep the criminals. So with some judgement, people were hanged. But now we are in an era, where a country can afford to keep them in prisons. Moreover, it is seen that the hard core criminals gets death punishment after some good years of jail, when they are completely changed and repent for their deed things. In such cases, we hang them. when they are already in the good men category. I feel death punishment should be abolished and life imprisonment till death without parole should be the highest punishment.
But i am not against encounters, where the criminal is punished, when criminality is in his mind. I wish if you people can add some of your views too. Thank you.

I agree, I know many countries still do that today. I remember:
In the final days of 2006, former Iraqi ruler Saddam Husein was hanged for the 1982 murders of 148 people in Dujail, Iraq. I never knew they still did that there.
Great info.
Have a great day there..

Saddam was a ruler, there was no reason to hang him. Tomorrow someone may advocate to hang obama, just b'cos many innocents over pak and afghan are killed in fight with terrorists. King's rule cant be compared with democracy. King doesnt have much scope to get advice even. So whatever they do, that is simply for their own existence. At least hanging cant be a solution.
