Want your compromised personal information off Google?

I'm sure that most of us are aware of myLot's epic blunder by now. They've removed the site they were testing the new layout on, but the compromised information is still readily available through Google's cache.
If you've found your personal information on myLot's test site and want it removed sooner rather than later, this is how you do it:
1. Go to Google's public URL removal tool at http://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/removals
You will need to log into your Google account to proceed with removing the link.
2. Click on the button that says Create a new removal request.
3. Enter the URL of the page you want removed from Google's cache. This is the URL of the page on myLot's test site, not the Google cache URL.
4. Click Continue. Google will analyze the link for a few seconds and then you should see a message with the page URL and the following message: This page has been removed from the web or blocked from Google. Do you want to remove this page from Google search results?
5. Click Yes, remove this page. After you do so, the page you submitted will be pending removal from Google.
I hope this helps some of you who are worried about your compromised information. I can't say how long it will take for Google to act on the requests, but it will probably be faster than leaving them alone.
Respond at your own risk, as this will probably end up being removed.

I'm sorry that the removal process isn't faster. They must have a lot of removal requests to sort through.
Were you able to request removal of all your pages without any issues?

So it doesn't happen only to me! I came a little late into this matter and when I tried to see what personal information of mine are on the Internet, I couldn't find anything.
If Mylot did removed everything, it's good for them. Too bad all this happened.

How long would it have stayed up if a member hadn't found out that it was there?
They should have had the Noarchive string in the robots.txt file, and I think it would have been much better to use dummy accounts created specifically to test the new layout rather than actual user information. Either that or pick a handful of the more active users and invite them to test it... what better way to make sure it's functioning and get excellent feedback from the people who're going to be using it?

Thank you very much, your a saver. I hope this won't be deleted so other members can still see it and clean up the mess themselves. To keep this discussion, even just for a few days, is the least mylot can do, they won't lose anything anyway.

You're welcome! I hope it won't be deleted... I always hate to see everyone's participation go to waste when that happens.

I can't even find mine in the caches anymore. Maybe somebody removed it? It wasn't me.

i haven't been able to log into mylot since saturday. actually, it's the only site i cannot log into. today, i tried again and i don't know what happened because i finally can.
the problem is i'm a computer/internet/gadget idiot. i created a hotmail account just for mylot which i check every few days. (i can't even view the full discussions from there all that time) anyway, i don't have a gmail account so do i still have to do this?

It's okay... I was going to point out that taking the period out will fix your emoticon tags, and then I realized that you must be deliberately adding it because you can't use emoticons yet.

I'm actually used to mentally inserting them because they show up as codes in PM's.

myLot were testing a new layout for the site on another domain name, and when they did that a lot of users' names and other personal information was made public.
Your account wasn't one of the ones that was compromised, so you don't need to worry about it.
