Is this bullying?

Most people would concede that bullying has always been around, in fact many of all ages would admit to having been bullied in school. Some would even concede to having been bullies themselves. The question I’m asking is this: Can much of what’s happening in schools today be considered bullying or has it moved beyond that? What is the difference between bullying today and when you were in school?

Bullying has 2 types.. that I'm aware of. There's physical and verbal. When you were in school, most of the bullying there are physical. When you get yourself a professional job, the bullying turns to verbal. It's more sophisticated and complicated compared to when you were in school. Even if you report them, they can find their way out of it since most of their verbal statements are indirect.

Hi frontvisions, There is verbal bullying in schools as well and with the technology we have today, it's gotten even worse. Some bullies of course stay bullies all their lives but I think it's often worse for children. Bullies are pretty much cowards who are afraid to face life. Thank you for your comments. Blessings.

Hi Pose: I think bullying has evolved in a very negative way because now kids are now more exposed to violence so now bullies try to find new ways to abuse physically and psychologically their victims. I agree with a zero tolerance policy on bullying, mostly because I was also a victim of bullying and I know how bad it feels

I think the main difference of today is the use of technology, or 'cyber bullying' as it's often referred to where people are bullied on line through trolls, or through Facebook, twitter and through texting, in fact it's stepped up a notch since technology advanced, bullies are always cowards, but it's even easier now because they think they are safe behind a computer screen to antagonize, bully, threaten their victim through the net! I do think schools have advanced in their anti-bullying. When I was at school and badly bullied, my mum came up to the school to complain and was told no I wasn't getting bullied, she had seen it happen, it was blatant, and she was told not to be so sensitive and protective! They wouldn't be able to get away with that nowadays! But sadly bullying can and never will be properly stamped out, bullies just get more ways to bully as technology continues to advance.

When I was a young girl I assisted a girl who was always being bully by other kids. I defended her and told those bullies that they had to pass by me if they did not stop. Well, I was very outgoing and had many friends ,so these bullies felt intimidated by me and thank God they stop bothering my friend. Until this day this woman remembers what I did for her and we became very good friends. The sad thing was that the teachers never did anything to prevent this from happening and I was the only one with the courage to help her. I think that we all need to make a difference and get involved. The bus driver, the teachers, the principal ,and the other kids need to stop this terrible behavior that causes so much pain to many kids.

I think it is much more violent today then it was in my time, I was a prime subject for bullies, but was pushed a few times and certianly never abused as many are now. I think we have TV and the movies to thank for this. Not many children would think of being so cruel as they are today without the instructions they find on the media.Today I can look back on this and say it made me the person I am today
but even the lower level of bullying I endured was very painful. I can understand how these children want to kill themselves.

Bullies are coward. They can do much advanced bullying these days because of the advancement of the technology. Bullying always being a problem in every school and culture. And it’s even more bad when the teachers seem to ignore the problem, or they think that it’s alright for the kids to bully another kids.
