Would you participate in a tv quiz?

Tonight while I am mylotting I am listening to an old tv programme. It is a quiz show where the participants can earn a lot of money if they are able to answer some questions about their hobbies. Each participant chooses their own topic and if they are able to answer every question they receive a large amount of money. They can stop whenever they choose, but if they choose to continue and aren't able to answer the question they lose everything.
I find it is intereting to listen to the show and I learn new things about the topics that I don't much about, but I would never participate myself. I don't have a hobby that I know a lot about, but even if I did I think that I would be much to nervous to answer questions on tv, and I would be afraid that I would forget the things I know if I was in that situation.
What about you? Would you like to participate in a tv show where you could win a lot of money? Or would you be too nervous?

If I was younger I would go for it. It seems as I got older I'm ending up to shy to do much of that anymore. Oh to be young again!
I watch a few shows like "Let's Make A Deal" and "The Price Is Right" and watch all those contestants win so many prizes it's amazing....and I'm cheering them on as if I was up there on stage with them. I even feel bad when they don't win, haha!
I have a hobby which is crafting but that would be a really hard subject to even ask questions about because of so many different crafts. I do miniatures...did you ever hear anyone talk about that stuff? I mean, to me it's a hobby...maybe to them it wouldn't be..I dunno.

I also feel bad when they don't win The show that I am watching at the moment is a show where the participants lose everything if they make a mistake so I always hope that they are going to win... Some of them answer the first questions and make a mistake when they have to answer the last question and then they get nothing at all.
Yes, crafting would be a hard subject to ask questions about. There are so many different crafts. I love crafts myself and I have experimented with many different kinds of things, but at the moment I don't have much time to spend on those things.

Isn't it sad when they don't win...I don't really know why I care but I do, lol! It's sort of the same with the tv shows I mentioned...if they screw up, they lose it all and that's a killer to me. Some lose thousands of dollars and I yell at them "You Fool!!".."Take The Money" but they don't.
I have time for my crafts just not the space I need. I'm trying to find another place to rent so I might have more room. I'm hoping to get a 2 bedroom instead of a 1 bedroom so I will have a place for my 6 year old granddaughter to sleep if she wants and more room for my crafting. I hate pulling all this stuff out because it's just one big mess and I can't find a darn thing...so irritating.

One of the participants from the show that I watched lost 24000 kr ($4000) because she wasn't able to answer the last question. I would have stopped before the last question It is sad when they answer every question and have to give up when they reach the last question.
I hope that you will manage to find a larger place to live. At the place where we lived before we didn't have an extra room that I could use for my crafts. Now we we live in the small house, there is more room for my crafts and I don't have to remove everything when we have to eat or when some of our friends visit us, and I am very happy about that.

I would personally be far too nervous because I do not like to show my face in front of all those televiewers. So probably I wouldnt go even if the sum of money was significant. It all has to do with one's character and level of shyness I guess. I know of a person who is not intelligent or anything, and he went on a couple of tv shows, could barely answer a single question, but just had fun. It al depends on the individual.

I would feel the same way. I would be very nervous if I had to participate in something like that. I would feel uncomfortable and I don't think that I would be able to focus on the questions. It is true that some people wouldn't react that way. They would just do it and enjoy it like the person you know. One of my friends tried to join Big Brother, but she didn't make it. Her personality is different from mine and she just thought that it would have been a lot of fun. I would never participate in something like that, not even if I was able to win a lot of money.

That kind of quiz shows are also popular in my country. The show that I was listening to when I started the discussion was on old tv show (there is a site from my country where they have uploaded many of the old tv shows, documentaries etc) In that show people can participate if they know a lot about a certain topic. It is quite interesting to listen to them when they answer the questions, they really know a lot about the topic that they have chosen I wouldn't participate, but it is fun to watch the others.
You wrote that you would like to participate in a show, what kind of show? Is it a show that tests your general knowledge, your knowledge about a topic that you have chosen or a different kind of show?

Yes, you have to be patient if you want to see yourself on tv because it is long process. There are people from my husband's family who have participated in a tv quiz and they won some money. I don't think that I would participate. I would probably get too nervous and find it hard to answer the questions, but I enjoy watching the people who participate. If it is a quiz where you have to answer questions about your favourite topic we learn a lot of new things, and I am often impressed by the knowledge that the participants have about their hobby.

I admire people like you who aren't afraid to participate in a tv quiz. I don't think that I would be able to do the same thing. I would get too nervous if I had to participate in something like that and I don't think that I would be able to answer the questions, but of course it would be great to win a lot of money
The thing you wrote about hiring the people who participated does happen sometimes. The quiz that I was listening to when I started this discussion was a quiz where the participants had to answer questions about the topic that they had chosen, and the show hired an expert who had to evaluate the participants' answers. One of the previous participants was hired as an expect in a later show.

I understand what you mean. Situations like that have become a little easier for me today, but it is used to be extremely hard for me to talk in public. Even today I would avoid that kind of situations, because I know that I wouldn't be able to relax in that kind of situation and I think that I would be too nervous to focus on the questions. I admire the people who choose to participate in that kind of tv quiz, because it is something that I would never do. I like to watch them and learn from the questions that they answer, but I wouldn't participate even if I had a hobby that I knew a lot about.

I've always been fascinated with Jeopardy that I myself would want to participate in it. But I'm afraid I'm not smart enough to qualify as a contestant so joining it would forever remain as a dream of mine. But I would want to try being in a show like Wheel of Fortune, Deal or No Deal or Family Feud. I think it would be fun. Haha. But maybe I'm just saying it now but in the end I won't go because of fear...

Hi,
That would be interesting, win or lose I still gain something. I have not the opportunity to do so, interactive TV is not yet here or I have not gone over it for spending the huge chunk of my time outdoors. It would be fun testing how good I am at answering trivia and plain general knowledge.

Yes, it would give you the chance to test how much you know and in that way it could be an interesting experiment. I would like to test my knowledge, but I wouldn't do it on tv I would get too nervous if I had to answer questions on tv and I think that I would forget the answers when I was under pressure and had to answer the questions very fast. My husband and I sometimes joke about it and we agree that we would like to participate in tv quiz and win a lot of money, but it is just a joke, I wouldn't actually do it and I don't think that my husband would do it either,

I'm not sure. I think I would go to a show where not necessarily the lexical knowledge counts, but street smarts and logic, like a Family Feud type of show. But a lexical show... well, I'm not stupid and uneducated by any means, but I would be so afraid that I forget the answer for the simplest questions, and I don't wanna look dumb... especially as I'm not the most knowledgeable person about so many topicsin the world...

I have the same thoughts. I think that my general knowledge is quite good, but I am also afraid that I would forget the answers when the quiz took place. I think that I would be to very nervous in the situation especially if I knew that I was going to lose everything if I made one mistake I find it is interesting to watch those quiz shows, and through the questions I able to learn about topics that I don't know much about, but I would never participate! I have seen some of the Family Feud shows and similar shows, and if I had to participate I think that I would be better at that kind of quiz, but I still prefer to watch the shows instead of participating.

I don't think that is something that I would like to do. Not in front of the cameras anyway. I don't even like my pictures being taken, so that rules out being on a TV show like that. I am too shy for that kind of thing. I will end up losing intentionally just so I can already step out and get out of there.

I wouldn't do it either. Of course it would be great to win a lot of money, but I think that I would be too nervous and too shy and participate in that kind of quiz show. The cameras would make me nervous and I am afraid that I would forget my knowledge if I were in that situation. I prefer to watch that kind of quiz shows instead of being an active participant. My brother-in-law once participated in "Who wants to be millionaire" and he won quite a lot of money, but he was very nervous and that made it hard for him to focus on the questions. I think that I would react the same way if I was in that situation.
