So upset at what I read today about Jazz.

Jazz has been at the haven for almost 2 months now and seemed to have been making progress with his weight loss. They were going to see if he'd lost enough weight by the end of this month in order to do the surgery.
Unfortunately Jazz has taken a slight turn, stopped eating and was throwing up. Bloodwork was normal as was x rays. The vet seems to think that the tumors are leaking something and making him sick.
He's on medication to try to help him feel better, but now the priority is getting him better and getting him in for surgery no matter if he hasn't lost the weight.
I've been working so hard in raising funds for his surgery, and this made that more urgent, despite me not having him.
It would have been so expensive for me if I had him at home still, so I did make the right choice in sending him to the rescue.
The vet is estimating $1300 for surgery and this week alone his vet care has cost $600.
I have raised over $400 through my campaigning and the rescue now knows about it even though I was trying to keep it a secret for now.
I don't know if Jazz would even make it through surgery, being so overweight is not a good thing at all.
I'll find out maybe in a few days when the surgery is going to happen. I want to go see him before it happens, but I don't know what's going to happen.

I am so sorry to hear he is feeling sick!
I am not a vet but I don't think they should rush with the surgery. They waited until now to make him loose weight and now to rush? I think they should first make him feel better, then wait until he looses the weight. It wouldn't be right to him to die during the surgery just because of that. I don't know, they are the doctors, they must know it better.
I hope you will soon come back with good news about Jazz.

The tumor is secreting chemicals into his body that are wreaking havoc on his digestive system. He's been put on medication to try to deal with it, but it may not get any better as the tumor is massive.
He's not eating much and whatever he eats he vomits up, they're considering this to be an urgent situation and have no choice but to push for the surgery as soon as they can.
If they could wait, they would.

I am sorry for what happens to Jazz. I know you must be very upset, especially that you can't be with him.
I don't know if the surgery is a good idea. He's old and he could not survive the anesthesia. Maybe the people at the rescue should concentrate on making him feel better. I know we want to fight for every day of our dogs' life, but sometimes we must learn when to stop.
We fought for our dog's life for more than a year. All the vets were saying she's too old and she can't live a happy life any more, but we still want the best for her. We had to put her to sleep, as nothing could be done to make her feel better.
I know you want Jazz's best but maybe you should have a second thought.

That's sad.....I do hope you can be able to raise the amount so that Jazz could be safe and will be able to regain her strength.
