Decision Time..for Job change

I am still confused..
I am one of the tenured Senior Associates in the organization I am currently working (having been working for 4 or more years). The organization I am currently with has a good brand name. Here my key responsibility is to supervise and mentor a team of 15-20 associates. Now if I am to switch my job, I am aware of my job's market value considering my current organization's brand name. But the only set back here is the ever monotonous work. With the fewer number of people in our team and the new hiring being stopped for our vertical, getting promoted to a new designation here seem to take more time, though April is our appraisal month.
Meanwhile, recently I got an offer from an old friend of mine, who started his own organization of 30 to 40 associates under him. He offered me to join as a Quality Coach in his service industry based organization. Joining my friend's org. will be a new challenge and responsibilities for me. At times I am kind of excited but then again I worry about the stability of the org. and or how sustainable the org. will be, considering it a new set up. It's really tough making a decision here..Any suggestions or a piece of advice would be much appreciated.

The decision would be based on what you value in your life. With this new opportunity, you will need to consider few things like your friendship, your security and how you would act in case of new challenges come along your way. Are you willing to take the risk?
You know, joining your friend can also be a ground for you to show what you really got in there in terms of ability and experience. The rise and fall of this new career will also depend on your hand.
We can always stay back and continue to what we get used to or we think something new and take new challenges.
Have a great day!

I am thinking this would give me an opportunity to take up new challenges. But I still have yet to receive an offer letter from him, which I need to show it to my current HR and manager, before they can release me. If he is unable to send it in time, I'll have to reject his offer eventually, because I figure it will only hamper my appraisal. Thanks, by the way and Happy mylotting!

I don't think you should take, this job working for a friend, that is one of the worse things a person can do, your friend will be your boss, and if anything goes wrong that will, damage your friendship with him, I think you should stay where you are because jobs, are hard to find out here now, and if you let go of the job you have now, you may never find another job, so be so quick in letting your job go, there may not be anything, out there waiting for you.

I know where you are coming from. But we are not too close with each other. It's just that we happened to work years ago together and when he was in a mess at one point in time, I was there for him. But I'll sure research more, think wise and make my final decision. Thanks. Happy posting!

Hey i can understand your situation very well and i know u must be very much worried and confused regarding your job change. i know a new job at this time would be challenging for you but what i look u to do is do a deep research on the company your friend is working for and then take your decision. otherwise i feel that u should stick with the same company.
