Loyalty to myLot?

United States
March 7, 2013 7:40pm CST
After today's events of myLot how are you feeling about your "loyalty" to myLot? I have been a dedicated member here and felt that I would never leave the site. Now I am wondering, if it is actually truth that I spoke or not. Where as myLot made a huge breach of our privacy, that doesn't bother me as much... well... it does bother me because that means they aren't completely following their own terms of service? If we're all trying to keep them and the site doesn't, now how much of a problem might that be in the future? I am hoping it only ever a one time thing even though it is a pretty big, one time thing. Any way, I wouldn't leave because of this privacy issue. I am not sure I will leave at all. Its just that I don't think I am going to like a whole new myLot. I have said time and again how much I love this myLot. So have countless other members here. Those hve all gone unheeded by myLot because its going to become like a twitter looking mash-up of facebook monster, from what I hear. I don't know full details as I didn't see the whole thing. But looking at the front page IT LOOKS LIKE TWITTER. The colors, the lay out, the everything on the front page, looks like twitter. I HATE TWITTER! There are also people saying that there will be things like "likes" instead of a star and "followers" instead of friends. Uhmmm.... if I wanted twitter and facebook I would go use THOSE. I love myLot please don't change it! So far its only the lay out that is similar to those sites, as, when the members who got into that test site, they say its all the same for discussions. But who is to say that it won't also change? Maybe myLot won't be about discussion at ALL any more. The admin haven't addressed this and only say there are CHANGES and IMPROVEMENTS. What if I don't think they are improvements!!!!! *stomps around angrily like a little temper tantrumed child!!!* I am sure this might be deleted. Sorry, maybe not.

It's unfortunate that I wasn't able to see the demo version of the new site. My main concern, is regarding discussions, it would be somehow heartbreaking if discussions will be removed. I mean, I am inactive once again on twitter and facebook and trying to be active once again on mylot, then if ever mylot becomes like twitter/facebook... well I don't know what to say yet, it's really hard since I haven't seen it yet. Let's just hope for the best.

Hmm interesting, but then we really can't say what is the final alright. let us just wait and see, i guess. He he I am hopeful now for the quadruple earnings, though. :D I hope this discussions stays. its a free mylot community afterall. haha

Yes it is a free community! We shall see though what the admin think of it.

Yes I feel the same. Members were inside and say it had all of the discussions up and you could even post them through that site. Though I think the site being seen publicly was a full mistake so obviously it is not completed with changes. Who knows what they will change next? While the members here have been in the dark completely about anything up until now just because of a mistke of seeing the site! So no one knows until it is fully released.

Hi echoforever I have been here for a couple of weeks and have been really enjoying myself. I was on this morning and I never have seen so many discussion's on this topic I could almost feel the panic that was going through here questions after questions. When I came back on a couple of hours ago I thought they had it resolved (but have heard since then no they have not) I am just confused now more than I was then. Are our names still showing somewhere? All our personal information. Thanks for any updates

I'm sure things will be mostly alright, this was just a somewhat jolting thing for myLot. I always considered it a very stable site that wouldn't bring on such change in a way that was so shocking. I obviously was wrong.

Thankyou for the information I understand that many would have reason for panic, I do hope everything turns out okay.

I was not able to be on here this morning when they were showing all the other information and New look. I have been here for many yrs. now, and love what this site looks like, and really would not want it looking like Twitter or Facebook for the site it really is. But until they reveal the New look we will never know. Just I love this site, so I am sure I could never leave.

I saw a screenshot. The colors are similar to twitter and it looked like the activity feed... was twitter like as well how it read. I of course saw nothing inside.

hi echoforever I hope its not deleted as its just putting into words what I have been thinking since I learned about the so called improvements on a new my lot.I hope we are worrying for nothing as I have the flu and this y dumb carpal tunnel syndrome making my right hand keep going numb.Of all the times for this to happen I just cannot believe with today and tomorrow quadruple earnings I have to be so hampoered grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Right Hatley, there will be changes to myLot it is just a matter of time. We don't know how much this will effect the discussion aspect of myLot because that site is not fully released. It was fully by mistake any one knew it was out there in the web. We've been left in the dark as members and now we find out on accident, the myLot we LOVE is going to change. How much? Well at the least, the lay out, the colors, the interface. I hope, not the discussions which is what myLot is all about. Though I don't know. You just get better though, it sounds as if you are miserable today.

I am not sure about happenings as I was not active for couple of days now. Would some one be kind enough and let me know what has taken place that made so many people so angry. I am sure mylot might have taken care by now if any thing went wrong. Please let me know.

Oh!! Hi Suni somehow I missed your comment I'm sorry I didn't mean to! Here I am now though. Yes our identities were able to be seen connected with our activity in myLot as well as our location. It was a huge myLot blunder in testing a new site that doesn't have proper privacy apparently. Also that myLot is going to changing some things.

I honestly think that MyLot is perfect the way it is! If they are wanting to go with like and followers then they sound like they are heading more to a Bubblews kind of site. If that's the case then they are seriously going to have to start shelling out more cash! I have only been a member of Bubblews for a little shy of a month now, and I have already cashed out once at $25.00, and I'm just about at cash out again!! How often do people make $50.00 in a month here at MyLot?
• Canada
9 Mar 13
I know that Bubblews also is doing some upgrading, I can't wait to see what the new version is going to look like! BUT as for MyLot if they want to be more like Bubblews, then they better pony up the dough too!
• United States
8 Mar 13
Oh, maybe that is the case too, bubblews... I hadn't thought of that one. I just got my 2nd from them as well. So I agree, if they want to be like that then they need more cash!

I had a look at that test site yesterday, and I too hated it, really. Like you, I too hate twitter, I never used it nor did I ever understand how to use it. It looks so stupid to me. And facebook, if I've to use it, why would I use mylot? We all love mylot for what it is! We just need a new look to mylot, some cool and better features maybe, but please be originial. There is no point in copying twitter or FB. As you said, we better use those sites instead of mylot. It's a request to mylot admin, Please make only positive and progressive changes without compromising with the ethics, principles and originality of mylot. Please don't emulate anybody else!!!

When I say "looks" I don't mean very glamorous or attractive look. I just meant a more convenient and user-friendly. Now it's a bit clustered, messy kind of a look. We've been discussing about it for so long and thankfully they are working on a new look. Tagging is very important as it's very tough to find our comments and the related responses here, unless u use the link sent to ur e-mail, which I don't prefer doing.

The consensus seems mixed. I might be able to over look the fact of how it looks but why put in things like @ toward sometone's name, taking away our star for "likes" and stuff like that? Make it more newbie friendly of "hey this is kind oflike FB/twitter"? I find it lame, honestly.

Oh, well for me I've gotten used to this look. I know to some it is clustered. It is in some ways but It puts all the important things in the right place, i think.

Hi echo, It looks like the new site will have the look of twitter and will take some facebook features like blocking some members to participate to our discussions. I am not sure that I will be still interested by a site like this. Anyway, I will be more careful if I stay, and I will never tell anything personal on mylot : I like to put a wall between my private and public life, and what happened yesterday is embarrassing.

I believe they want to create a more popular site. I would also prefer to keep the site like it is : I use times to times a phone to login, and for what I saw this morning, the new site will be probably incompatible with most mobile phones.

Hi top- I am still not sure about happenings around so would keep mum as long as i do not see the final outcome. I may find the new version worth and may become more busy although I use both twitter and Facebook indirectly only. That is for sharing my links nothing else, that too through sharing buttons available on different sites. Thanks for your update.

I am not sure I will enjoy it either but I will give it a shot. Given my name will be hidden so I feel comfortable in doing so as I stated above as to why. I just wish they would leave myLot alone.

From the way I took their message, the changes would be a facelift of the site with regards on how they look and most probably fixing the bugs on slow loading of pages. I don't think that there would be changes with the way the discussions are concerned, coz this is how they had all of us stuck here. Well, I just hope that is how it will go.

I hope you're right Jenny. I love the discussions as well as the site here because of its unique look. there's nothing like myLot and it sucks that they're trading it up for more popular design. I do hope, not, the discussion part as well because that will really make me leave. Or in the least be very scarce here.

I have been here over three years now. And this site has not changed at all. I like it the way it is. I thought they were just going to change maybe the coloring or the layout and maybe make it a bit easier to MyLot. But if it is going to be somewhat like Twitter, then I see problems on the horizon. I guess all we can do at this point is wait until they do change it and see how it works. I like change personally, but change for the better or to make things easier. You do have to agree that the current MyLot page looks very cold and plain. Very white if you know what I mean. But that in no way bothers me. I wonder when this is going to take place.

It is the way I've come to know myLot but I agree it could be more inviting. The blocks of text can be hard on the eyes. I am all for good change so I hope it is a good change. I'm just not wanting myLot to change into something and I hate it. Because then I'll feel a lot less like being here...

I've been on and off on myLot for about 9 months. I remember back when, people that were "newbies" here were complaining about how this site should change and update to become like FaceBook and Twitter (Twitter I don't use), why can't they just leave things well enough alone!! Now, they're updating to satisfy some "newbies" and they breach our privacy in doing so, then they want to compensate us by quadruple earnings? Sounds like they need to leave well enough alone! If you don't like it here then move on , but why change? Just sayin'...

I would imagine that since we got the money on the quadruple days, no matter when they update it we will receive it for that.

Speaking of money, if they're just in the process of updating and they breach our privacy, what's going to happen when they do update, we won't get paid or it will take longer for us to get our money?

I don't know if what I feel is normal. because I don't feel anything at all. Though it is weird that they have this rule about exposing yourself (intentionally) on the discussion. Even if it is one's free will it is will not be allowed. otherwise, the response will be deleted. I am not a celebrity, I am not rich. I live in a distant far from nowhere so I guess even if I ooze with appeal (hehehe) no one will stalk me. I think no one wanted to know me anyway. I don't know how much exposure was revealed but I don't know.. I have my photo here and the places where I had been to. I told what my real age is in one of my discussions. so I guess other those things the rest remain kept like my issues and concerns in different aspects of my life. This is what my point is specially to those people whom have shared about everything about themselves in forms of discussions. They are maybe the ones who have a problem now as far as the exposure is concern. Those who were able to play with that site knew exactly who they are as they revealed themselves here and had given so much information about themselves, for example, habitual routine in the morning.. or over doing something, or a husband who cheats or so many family and personal issues that could have kept just themselves and among family circle. However, if this will become a "twitter" type.. I think I will not EARN here anymore because I don't have followers I might quit.

I would be uncomfortable to participate always with my name showing. But I have my name elsewhere and my location so that didn't bother me too much. Its just that the terms were broken by the site itself... seems.. a little messed up.

I did not see the site because I was not online at the time, but when I heard that Mylot was introducing new features I was looking for ward to finding out what it would be like. I certainly hope it does not intend to emulate sites such as Facebook because that is not what I came to Mylot for. I became a member of Facebook a few years ago when a work colleague was retiring and intended to spend a lot of time in Spain, so it seemed a good way to stay in touch. I was certainly not impressed by some of the site's features and closed the account within a couple of weeks. I much prefer as it is than as a Facebook type of site, but I will not really know until the site is officially unveiled.

As I've said before, I'm a member of multiple sites. When I want a Twitter or Facebook experience, I go to Twitter or Facebook. When I want a myLot experience, I come to myLot. Each site (these three as well as others) has its own strengths and weaknesses. They each offer a different experience for the user. I dislike the idea of myLot becoming a different sort of site. It is what it is, and it has built up a loyal base of members. That should be good enough. However, instead of being happy with having 250,000+ members--part of which has been quite loyal to the site for many years--it seems like myLot is looking to make changes to put it into the same league as larger social networking sites. Can't anyone just be satisfied? Expansion and major changes don't necessarily translate into greater success. Sometimes, it is good to just stick with the basics. Sure, you can make minor tweaks, but it can be unwise to make major overhauls of what has proven to be a good thing.
• United States
8 Mar 13
I don't think they should try to compete as they're in a league of their own right now. They're kind of dumb to try to jump in that huge mess... I think.
