The board is unbelievable.

So I had a board of directors meeting at work today and I really don't understand how they think. We had a 15 minute argument of giving our members 10 percent off meals as a perk to paying a membership. Most members still only come once a season and our food is all free, donated by a local restaurant. Anyway the board members give out free gift certificate for free meals left right and centre so we make absolutely no money. And they don't even discuss that but then discuss for 15 min how we should not give a 10 percent discount to our 20-30 members where we would make money on membership and make money on food. So we lose nothing. And make money. After 15 minutes I got so fed up and yelled that the board gives out free stuff all the time and no one says a word at the board table or ever discusses anything when we want to give strangers, free food but your discussing giving a 10 percent discount where we still make money. They looked at me surprised and all put their heads down like oh my god she's right, we don't make sense.

Hey there, So what happened after they put their heads down and theoretically realized their mistake ? Did they actually approve the discount for members or stuck to their rigidness in the end ? Have a good day, Alex.

Sometimes, you just have to grab someone by the lapels and yell in their face for them to get your point. You did this figuratively and it seems to have worked.

Isn't this something that really is the case with all different organizations that have a board of directors. I mean there are several different people that are members of the board and all of the individuals that are members of the board are likely to have a different set of goals and opinions. Every board meeting that I've ever experienced has been more like a three ring circus than an efficient meeting because of the differing opinions and goals of everyone.
