Thoughtful or no?

My best friends birthday was yesterday and I usually spend quite a bit of time picking out a gift for her and trying to find something she will really like. We haven't been able to connect much lately because I'm working overnights and she's an accountant- tax season!! This year, I ordered some chocolate covered strawberries sent to her instead of waiting and giving her a gift in person- it wasn't cheap either! My question would be do you think it was too impersonal of a gift?

Hello Angle3eyes and welcome to myLot. There are three things I don't like as gifts. They are clothing, home decorations, and reading material. These things I have all I want of them. My daughter keeps buying different thing for me thinking they will make things easier but they don't and are a waste of her money. So any kind of food would be perfect. Food always says love so In my opinion the strawberry covered with chocolates is one of the best gifts to give. I couldn't think of any thing better under the circumstances.

I got a text from her when she finally got home at ten at night to find the gift waiting for her and she said she loved it. I'm just glad it was a nice surprise!

Its my birthday today and I will say that if I was sent a gift from anyone I would love what ever it was, as it has shown that you had not forgotton me even when you have been busy in your life.Plus I love chocolate covered strawberries as well, so that would be ideal gift if you ask me.

No it was not impersonal at all. You at least remembered her birthday and sent her a gift. Which is thoughtful. You could have just forgotten her birthday in your busy schedule or not bought a gift and not able to wish her. This is still better.

If you live just a block away, and you did not hand over your gift to her, I would then think that that is not thoughtful of you, but you did manage to think of her and that you were kind enough to even spend for her, and to have the gift sent to her as well. that is not at all a non thoughtful act.

I think it is still better than totally forget about it.
Once in awhile something different, is a 'breath of fresh air'.
I would love it to receive a special delivered cake... chocolates
etc. You are so sweet and such a nice friend. Yes, friendship is
for us to treasure always.

Dont worry. I think she would relly love it, besides you guys both know that your busy, its is much better than forgetting her birthday, or greeting her late. Besides it is the effort and not the gift. In my opinion I think she is very lucky to have a friend like you^^

You know better your friend and how she feels about this kind of gifts.
For instance, I know my friends would think I am ill or something if I bought them reasonable gifts. They know me, I'm a big joker and I like buying silly things as presents for their birthdays. I usually enter the first shop in my way and buy the first silly thing I see. The last silly gift I bought was a small chair for children. It isn't a silly gift, you may say. But if I tell you the gift was for a 90 kilos person who isn't marry and doesn't have children, what would you say?

i think that would be a nice gift. i mean... the chocolate covered strawberries are great but the thought that you did actually remembered her birthday is great. considering that you are busy, you still managed to get her present...

no it was sweet specially if strawberries and chocolates are her favorite. WE are all grown up and mature to feel bad about whatever. WE are all busy with work and with life, so I am sure she will understand that.

Only you know the answer to that question because you know your friend and we don't.
If you know she loves strawberries and chocolate then fine...she can celebrate without you. For me, I love strawberries and chocolate but it is a weird gift to send in my humble opinion. I would rather a note promising a shared dinner next time we see one another.

I think deliveries, especially at work are a wonderful idea! Chocolate covered stawberries aren't cheap and I'm sure she'll treasure each one of them.
I've been looking for some fairly priced chocolate covered walnuts to sent to a friend at work. Think it will be a surprise and delight for him.

Though I have to admit that this would not really be the kind of gift that I would want to get from my best friend, I wouldn't discount this idea as a gift either because it is something that is nice and something that is an indulgence that she probably doesn't get every day.
When it comes to someone that I know really well, I would try to give some kind of a very personal gift, but I can see why that was something that wasn't possible for you this year.

If you were to give it to me, I wouldn't mind at all. I would be happy all the time coz at least you still remembered my birthday. I don't expect too much from my friends. Just them greeting me on my birthday is fine.

If she likes chocolate and strawberries, then you got her the right present. By the way my birthday is April 29th if you would like to send me some.
