Would you give a restaurant a second chance that has served you "bad" food?

A few weeks ago I was rushed to the emergency room due to non-stop vomiting and loose bowel movement. I was diagnosed with acute gastro-enteritis. There were also others who manifested the same symptoms after we ate some noodles. We thought it could be a case of food poisoning. Food poisoning or not, the fact was we all felt bad after having the noodles. Recently, the owner of the restaurant that served the noodles came to apologize for the inconvenience their food caused us. He was quite a nice fellow and reimbursed us for the medical expenses and even offered to return the money we paid for the noodles. My question is, despite the fact that the restaurant tried to make amends, would you still patronize that restaurant after experiencing some sort of food poisoning from a food item they served you?

While I have to say that I would be very thankful for the fact that the proprietor of the restaurant had tried to make amends with the patrons that had become sick after visiting the restaurant, I really don't think that I would be the kind of person that would give that particular restaurant another chance. When it is something that is a service related issue, then I would be willing to give the restaurant a second chance. However when it is a quality issue, I am really not willing to give a second chance.

I had such a bad experience that I not only avoided the restaurant but also the particular type of noodles altogether. Maybe I will try the noodles only when it is carefully prepared at home. I will not dare put my health at risk again. It was painful physically and financially. It hurt my body and my wallet as well.

I think I would consider a few factors before making this decision. It is important to see just how good the restaurant has been in terms of service, environment, crowd, quality of the food and most of all, hygiene. I rarely dine out. If I do, it would be together with my family and a place my husband and I are familiar with and like. We will try new ones but only after we are sure that the experience and food is worth the trouble to include or switch. In your case and in most food poisoning cases, are rare and isolated and the reasons are varied. I have to say that the owner is sincere with his apologies and efforts commendable. So, I would be able to accept his apologies and offer to dine at his place again.

My reation would greatly depend on the fact that what is bad? If it was just a dish not served properly or cooked completely, or wrong service, I would not stop visiting the place. But I would never be able to eat the food at the restaurant which served me really bad awful food that made me sick. Even if they try to make amends, give me the amount paid as the bill or give me the amount spent on the medical bills, I still wont risk it again.

Maybe not that too soon. Of course, the phobia was already there although none between you and the management want that to be happened with you. What had happened to you is not a joke anyway and it is not impossible for you to experience it again.

In general, if a restaurant offered the bad or poisonous food and poor service, then I will not go there again. Since there are quite a lot of choices here. We can easily find various kinds of restaurants around my home. However, since you said the owner of the restaurant seemed to be kind to apologize their food. I think it can be acceptable. I will give them a second choice. To me, a nice service is still the most important.

I am a firm believer in second chances. I would be obliged to give the restaurant a second chance to redeem themselves with a purchase of their food. I might not order the same food item again though. If the same thing happens again, I don't think I would be visiting that place again.

I don't think I would ever be comfortable eating food from that same restaurant again. Eventhough it was unintentional for me to get sick from the food that they have served, I would always have in mind how it could be unsafe to eat from them again.

I don't think I would be able to go there again, not after being so sick like that. I am glad they paid for everything and tried to make things right but I would still be worried about going again... That was good business for them though, to apologize and make things right.

Safe food is not negotiable. Restaurants served un - Safe food is not negotiable. Restaurants served uncleaned food should be closed!
I doubt that I would ever set my foot into that restaurant again if I were to have got poisoned by their food. The owner was nice as he did all that he could to make the situation better but sadly what he should have done was to make sure the food that his restaurant prepared was hygienic and fit for consumption. It was lucky that there were no lives lost! It is not a small matter so no, he is not fit to be in food business. There is no second chance when health is at stake.

I think they deserve another chance. They made up for it and apologized. They probably are doing something about their service now because i dont think any business man would want to pay for everyone's hospitalization. If it happens again, then I'll report them to the safety inspector and have their establishment shut down.

I think I would not be so interested in going back to that restaurant to soon after the problem. I would eventually forgive and give them a second chance especially of I frequently went to the restaurant in the pay and thus us the first time I experienced problems. But of this was the first time I went there them I would wait some time and maybe try again.

In my opinion, I might be giving the restaurant one more chance since they are are sincere in changing for the better. Sometimes, food poisoning can be caused by ingredients which is not fresh and sometimes the cook themselves may not have noticed it. So we can't really put all the blame on the restaurant itself though they are responsible partly for it. The supplier of such ingredients should be held responsible too.
