Stay friends or ignore it...?

I had a friend and he is a guy, married with 2 kids, his wife works abroad. We became friends 'cos we study the same course and I respect him as a guy same as the my other classmates. We text, he sends me cellphone load (for no apparent reason, I told him to stop and so he did).
We still text but it's getting annoying (one of the reasons why I don't like to give my cell number freely especially to guys but it was for school purposes). He text me and said "Please don't get mad for what I'm about to text you. I'm starting to like you a little."
(Another negative points for guys. Sorry this might offend other guys but this is not general just a few I met)
How should I handle this situation maturely? Should I respond or ignore him? If I should respond, how should I say it without being to offensive?

You can take the offensive route, there's a high probability that will scare him off to leave you alone for good.
Tell him the truth. You are not interested in him. You only see him as a friend and if he wants to at least keep a good relationship between you, he'd back off and don't do anything stupid. Remind him he has a wife and he has kids. They are his top priority. He should focus on his family rather than his own feelings.
Anyway, you might also want to clarify if his feelings for you were actually romantic or just platonic.
