Easter, and all it's parts.

Apparently, marshmellow Peeps are still really popular after 60 years in production. I don't particulary like them. I was just thinking of Easter. Do you have a favorite part of Easter? I realize to many it's not a Christian holiday, it's a time just for Easter eggs and the Easter bunny. But to Christians it is of course about the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Our church always does the Easter egg thing for the kids in the church. I used to love those as a kid. And my parents would always have an Easter basket for my sister and me. We didn't believe in the Easter bunny though. Is it easy for parents to actually get their kids to believe in that? I would think it would be way harder than getting them to believe in Santa.

For me the best part of Easter (like any holiday) is spending time with my family because to me that's what it's all about! All of my family live far away (Australia, US, and spread over Canada)but my gurls and my hunnie are my world, and the best family EVER!! My boyfriend and I are going to have a blast hiding Easter stuff for the gurls to look for on Easter morning! I just hope we remember everywhere that we hide the eggs.

We don't hide the colored eggs, we hide the chocolate and candy ones, but still once the chocolate ones are forgotten and they start to melt ewwwwww, what a mess!!

There's so much hype about the Easter Bunny and so many kids who do believe that I think it would be hard for kids not to believe in him. For me the best part of Easter is having dinner with one of my kids. When I was young there were always Easter baskets for me and my siblings and I did the same for my kids when they were young. We would buy new clothes just for this day and everyone would look so nice.

True that! The Easter Bunny gets a TON of hype, and why wouldn't a kid believe in the Easter Bunny? After all, they get free chocolate out of the deal!

Honestly, I'm hoping to get away with no Easter baskets this year. My girls will be 17 and 20 this year. Do I really need to do Easter baskets? I know they'll be disappointed if I don't. Nobody needs the junk candy. It was easier when they were younger to just get little dollar store toys but now that they are older the little things cost some money.
I don't care for the Peeps myself.
We are Christians and celebrate Easter Vigil. I'm not very good at the strict Christian customs of fasting and usually forget I'm not supposed to eat meat on Fridays during Lent. I'd just as soon help out a family in need.

I don't like peeps either.. but I love Cadbury Cream Eggs and the caramel eggs, and the reese's eggs, but at least those come out at every holiday in different shapes.
Yes my younger kids believe in the Easter bunny. It isn't hard to get them to believe because you start when they're born pretty much, every Easter since birth the Easter bunny brings them a basket.
What was funny was my twins were around 8 when they figured out on their own there was no Santa.. which is actually a pretty good story. My daughter figured it out on her own for all the typical reasons.. Santa can't visit every house in 1 night and all that stuff. But my son still believed and countered with "mom and dad can't afford to buy us all that stuff, so there has to be a santa".
Anyway.. eventually they both figured out there was no Santa.. but were shocked to find out the Easter Bunny and Tooth Fairy were also made up.

easter is such a rewarding holiday. For those who are more religious, the ressurection means so much more to us on that day. For children, thoughts of easter egg hunts and games fill their mind. I was always partial to jelly beans and coloring eggs myself.

jo Ambie Pam I grew up on a far m in South Dakota and we always bought new hats and new dresses for Easter and we always without fail went to the Church services on Easter Sunday
morning., We went to worship and also to show off our new things to our friends too.Easter egg hunts and Easter candy were also part of the festivity and those all endured up to now even.

Easter eggs and Easter bunny? We don't use those things to celebrate Easter. Easter is all about the resurrection of Christ so in our Church that is the center of celebration and nothing else. We don't really encourage or allow any celebrations or any thing that the Bible does not tell.

No it isn't hard to get them to believe because so many other kids do they just follow along, even though we have told our kids there is not Santa or Easter Bunny they still believe, which has a lot to say about having faith in something.

As a child we used to color Easter eggs and then because there were so many of us we used to take turns hiding them and then the rest of us would look for them until they were ready to peel. Easter was really started by the pagans in worship of Tamuz but it was very close to Passover when Christ was crucified so it was easy to transfer a pagan holiday into a Christian holiday. Only thing is we kept the pagan celebration just like we kept them for Christmas.
