It is nice to give your home furnishings and upholstery a facelift from time to time. Soft furnishings play a crucial role in the ambience of a rooom, and I was thinking of giving a new look by changing the pillow and cushion covers. Would appreciate any tips...

If you are looking for the most economical way that you would be able to do this updating in your home, then I would say that the best thing that you could do would be to get some fabric that you really like and then you can make your own decorative pillows and slip covers.
Other than that, I would think that the best way to save money on making some updates in your home would be to use coupons for a percentage off of your purchases if you are able to find them.

I never bother with changing covers unless it's bedroom pillows - and then I get new sheet sets that come with pillow cases. Of course, since hubby and I both sleep with two or more pillows each, one problem is that the sets come only with two pillow cases. Then, I buy plain color ones that highlight one of the colors in the sheet set.
As far as cushion and pillow covers for living room or den areas, often throw pillows are inexpensive enough to simply purchase a few new ones. I've even found them in dollar stores! If you can do embroidery, or have some decals, you can change the appearance of what you already have directly on the cover that you now have. Or, take off the covers and try tie-dying them for a wild and snazzy look!
