I guess, many have heard of Women's Day. I, myself have never celebrated this day called, the Women's Day. It was in my office that i overhead my colleagues talking about it. And they have this football match game organised for the ladies. Admin team against the factory team! Guess, i will just watch and cheer...hahaha. What say you for Women's Day? I would like to wish all ladies, Happy Women's Day!

I believe that I first heard of it over 20 years, from the public radio station I used to listen to. But I really grew out of listening to the station-I called it "sleepy" music-really weird stuff! But that was when I first heard of International Women's Day-and to be honest, I've really not thought much about it since. Sounds like your company has a fun idea planned-who won the game?

That sounds like so much fun! 14 or 15 years ago (maybe more), I worked in an office where they had all sorts of "family oriented" events for the employees. My supervisor was Santa-and I was always allowed to bring my daughter to see him. Since then, only my boyfriend's store had a large picnic, and it was with another store. They ended with a softball game between the stores-my boyfriend's store lost badly! It was a lot of fun, although I really didn't know hardly anyone there.

Wow, that sounds interesting too! Softball game! We seldom play it here, i could only watch it on television because it's not a popular and trained game here in my country. Yeah, you are right...although we hardly know anyone during the game, but everyone is enjoying and get to know one another. Just like our football game, the admin team weren't very close with the factory team because we seldom see one another. Admin team people would always be in the office building, while the factory team people are always in the factory and seldom had the chance to enter the office building. So, through such a fun game, relationships between employees are pulled closer and united, somehow is good for the company's growth as well.

Hi scorpiobabes, it was a tie between the "admin-team" and "factory-team". Then they called out for the goal kick to determine which team would win. In the end, we have the "factory-team" won. However, everyone was happy and satisfied with the game.

Well, happy International Women's Day to you too. But what brilliant mind came up with having a football match to celebrate it? Doesn't seem to fit.

Actually, I don't celebrate it. What's one day when so much wrong is done all the other 364?

Hi BarBaraPrz, thanks. Yeah, the idea wasn't mine...maybe different culture different style of celebrating i guess...as long as they are enjoying their day. You sound experienced in celebrating Women's Day. Wish you could share some ideas to celebrate this Women's Day...that would be awesome.

Neither do i celebrate. Just shared some new happy celebration that i learn from people around me. Hmmm, if one has much wrong done over all other 364 days, then at least in this very 1 day live it positively. There's a saying, "One is better than none. Never give up hope". We can treat this 1 day a brand new day like other days we had, but if we had lost the 364 opportunities, don't let go of the last one. Smiles and happiness that shines on your face worth more than anything to people you love and care.

Hi lyn, you are right. Normally we hear occasions like Happy Mother's Day, Happy Father's Day or Happy Family Day, right? So, today you may treat yourself a special day like giving yourself a rest and break and enjoy doing things you love.

Someone else mentioned it was Women's Day, and yet I looked at my calendars and diaries and there is no acknowledgement of it, maybe it's only celebrated in certain countries? I joked by saying, is there a Men's Day, but then the ladies would argue every single day is Men's Day!

LOL...u are a funny joker. The ladies that argue with you must have seen men enjoy their every single day. I always hear my male colleagues say, "Yesterday i am married, but today i am single and available." They are really playful, no wonder the ladies would think that every single day is Men's Day. Well, there is a day for Men's Day to celebrate. Men's Day is also an annual international event which falls on November 19. So the men don't have to be jealous of the ladies. I've never heard of Women's Day, is this just another excuse to sell a Hallmark Card? If so, Uh! Oh! You know, everyday should be woman's day and man's day, we need to celebrate our differences and the things that make us compatible. I wish all the women I know a Happy Woman's Day!

Hi gitfiddleplayer, well we can never stop people from doing business. However, i think there are many more celebration days which are not officially a public holiday internationally. It doesn't matter, and i agree with you that everyday should be women's day and men's day. But this day can also help to remind many who has lost the opportunity to treat themselves, to care for themselves, to remember others, to cherish others around them.

Joy, Happy Women's Day to you, too. When i was still working before, i only got staff lunch from my boss. My boss would request us to get off half hour earlier than usual and treat us lunch at some of the local restaurants. How i wish i am able to get the same treatment again if i am able to start in future again. My hubby would always buy me some special chocolates during the Women's Day and have dinner at a nice restaurant.

Hi myfb2009, wow your husband is sweet. Not many husband remembers this kind of day, and buy gifts for their wife and bringing them for candlelight dinner. Even if they do remember, to them is just a normal day like the rest. But if everyday the husband loves and treasures the wife, then everyday is a women's day to her and she has nothing to lose too.

Hi, I may not be a woman but I could share in the celebration too, like giving some special someone a treat. These days of women's liberation and gender equality, it is only fitting to give the women due recognition for their contribution to society.

This is actually the first year in our office that I have not heard people talking about Women's Day. In the previous department that I am in, we're always have preparations for this day like our office will provide free shirts for those who want to join the event. There are actually lots of things to do. There are freebies like free foot spa for us women, free medicine samples, free facial and others. But this year, I have only read about Women's Day but I have not seen anyone in the office celebrating it.

Hi Paper_Doll, guess the world is changing. Many things that can be done previously might have changed because of the advancement in technologies. Like some people rather send online greetings, stayed online chatting; rather than writing some letters, giving out greeting cards, or preparing gifts. Also, people gather more on internet, than in person.

Hi redvakaurvaki, yes agree with you. Woman is a special person to be dedicated to treasure and love. It's not easy to be a woman, and much is sacrifice to bring forth a family. Well, there is no exciting announcement in my country either, but people are just actively wishing one another Happy Women's Day internationally!
