meeting people before a move

I am often nervous in social situations. I do not talk much, and others become uneasy by it. I have not had many in years. The ones I have, someone is always leaving. Last time, it was us.
Yesterday, my husband introduced me to a really nice couple. They were really friendly and my son quickly warmed up to them and the small dogs they have. It was a nice evening. And once again, someone is moving. It seems likle we have a habit of meeting really interesting people right before we or they move. And somehow, despite this electronic age, we never speak again.

Like you, I am not a very outgoing person. I don't make friends easily and I just get so shy and tongue tied whenever a new neighbor or stranger will try to be friendly to me. I am not by any means a snob, I am just shy. But since I married my husband, we have to do lots of traveling so I get to meet lots of people and I know how important they are in my husband's work, so I try my best to be a bit more sociable.

My husband has made me more outgoing in a lot of ways. I guess I always dread these sort of interactions, but I am happy this one worked out, except that they are moving.
