For me, I guess it would depend on what you are doing, but personally it is best to not do this all the time. I have heard it is vital to take breaks and not overdo it in anything you do in life. If it is only occasionally then it might be OK.

I like to work in the night hours. I don't go to office now and I'm working from home currently, and I enjoy working at the night time. I feel that I can give more productive work in the night time as nobody can disturb us from the work.

I do this only when necessary but not on a regular basis. I need to balance my time and focus on more important things. making a living is just a part of our life, it is not our life. so I try not to consume too much time working beyond what is required..

I used to do that, but only for the wages, if I could. I would have left the job if they wanted to make me work overtime without extra salary - loads of companies abuse their power and make people do overtime without any compensation in my country, which is unethical, but you can't really do anything about it... you can sue them, but that's going to take years, and most of the times the companies are not going to be found guilty, because the government relies on companies because of the economy.

As long as they get paid and properly compensated for it and their health doesn't suffer then it's their call. And on the part of the employers, as long as their employees turn in good work then they should be thankful that people take the extra mile to deliver their pending works.

Nowadays I am going through this situation. But surely it is not for impressing the higher officials. Most of the time I stayed back only because of the work load. I have to complete it that's why I stayed there. Also I would be happy if I get some extra wages. I would have easily accepted that. That would add to our pocket money sometimes it become handy in savings also.

I have to work beyond office not because of additional benefit but there are just things that are needed to be done on time. My permanent work has a fixed salary and we are not allowed to have overtime pay.
I still work beyond office hours, even at home, because of my par time online work. This is the giving me additional income.
Have a great day!

I do that here all the time. But as the business owner I have to. it helps keep costs down here.
