Someone gave me some cookbooks yesterday. A lot of gourmet recipes with some ingredients I have never heard of and many I have that I never have seen for sale. There were some that were from the 70s with some known and many unusual recipes. I can cook alright, but some of this looks advanced and I am nervous to try. That has been the biggest issue in the past, the large amount of ingredients I would not usually have from one recipe to another. I had always hoped for something that had a list of things I should have on hand, like a shopping list, instead of just assuming I had the random ingredient. One of these books seems to have this, a list of what your pantry should have and such. I have not went through it all, but it seems I have some of it already. I often wonder where people store all of these ingredients, especially ones that are not used but rarely.

yes it is always good to write down what you have stored that way you can look at your list to see if you have it it may also help to make a note to about how much is left good luck and happy cooking

From what I have seen in the books, the ingredients I will be buying seem a lot more than what I already have!

you can look it up online and see if there is a common every day sub that you may have in your home

Oh I know exactly how you feel. I am still starting to get my way around the kitchen after getting married. And I still get dizzy whenever I encounter some complex sounding ingredients. I am all for easy-peasy recipes. But just when I thought I am finally ready to make something fancy, I turn my back with my tail behind my legs and go back to grilled cheese. Thank goodness my husband thinks everything I prepare is delicious.

Hi friend, we have lot of ingredients in our kitchen and use them frequently, some ingredients are used in rare manner, we can keep them in a good air tight container and keep it in a dry place. We can keep the main ingredients in the first row and unused items back.
