I guess everyone who was a student and who is a student now knows what is to feel the stress\pressure from school !
On the days we all have exams and tests we get like crazy chickens running and studying without any time for some relaxation.
I have big problems when it comes to this times. My mood isn´t the most sociable at all.. and I get desperate to get out of that routine knowing i can´t ahah it´s tests and exams they are important. but it´s important to feel calm and positive for them to !
Unfortunately is known that most of students go to bad habits because of this... and I sure don´t want that for me or my friends.
My question here is what usually you do to overcome this ? And do you feel the same as I do ? DO you change for better or worse ?

I took up jogging. I'm on my third year now and I remember I'd drive myself crazy over the exams. I'd see that the more I try to cram the worse it got and the less I remembered which only drove me even more insane until I broke down once. It really wasn't good. Anyways, I decided to go out for a jog to try and tire myself out physically just as I had already done mentally. I put on my headphones and listened to music to take my mind off the work I was leaving behind. I've been jogging ever since.

Yeah it wasn't the most pleasant experience, but fresh air and some sort of physical activity works well on me. Its because you let go and stop what you're doing for a moment. Music helps me not worry, it gets my mind off of what I'm worrying about and some physical serves as a change of environment and activity because it doesn't require any mental exercise or concentration. Whatever you do, when you feel yourself getting stressed get away from your books and your desk or where ever you study. The worst thing you can do is remain stressed and continue to try to study, it only makes it worse, I know.

Sorry to hear about your stress. But someday all that stress in school will be well worth it for you.

School can put a lot of pressure on us when we have to study hard all of the time! I remember having to study extra hard because I wouldn't do this regularly so I would have to study for hours just to remember anything for the tests! I don't suggest that, so, maybe study a little each day after your working so it will hopefully stay with you for the exam when it comes up. I hope you do well with your studies and always have a little time for yourself too.

Pressure and stress go with school stuff. But we can only be pressured and stressed with our consent, and we can actually dictate to how far we can allow the pressure and stress to affect us. It is not easy, but we can make it easier for us. Eat healthy, take enough sleep and drink lots of water. A healthy body will be ready to face anything that school may require. And if you are feeling great, then your moods while studying will also be good.

Oh little cat....
Might surprise you to know that I too was once 16 and worrying about exams and being 16.
You will get through this and the stresses and pressure of growing up.
good luck

I've gone through this many times before, too. There were times when I didn't know what to and how to handle the pressure. The pressure and stress made me feel like giving up and the things I needed to do contributed more to the pressure and stress! And yes, there were times when because of this I got into a bad mood, and my brother and I always end up in a fight. :)
Usually, to overcome this I try my best to calm myself down. When I have calmed myself down, I am in a better state to study for exams or to do projects. If I feel tired or sleepy I'll nap for a few minutes, take a snack, or do anything else and then continue what I've been doing. I think the key here is balance. You have to take frequent but short breaks so you don't get stressed out so easily, but you also have to discipline yourself to do the tasks at hand. Rest and peace of mind are two things that you need for exams other than studying.
And yes, a positive outlook is very, very important. So even if you feel so pressured, keep your motivation up because once you've gotten out of that situation, you'll feel good because you know that your efforts paid off. Good luck!

My year of secondary school was the first to do the General Certificate of Education in 1988. Before that students had dome either the General Certificate of Education or a slightly higher Ordinary Level. It was stressful because the teacher found the first time of teaching it was hard. For example in Geography they taught the wrong information. We ran out of time studying all we needed for the exam. I ground my teeth at night with all that stress. Overall most students did poorly, even the top students. I got just 3 grade Cs and 2 grade D's. Luckily the further education college still let me in. I found the Business and Finance Shipping and Transport course enjoyable however I found the Accountancy unit a bit of a struggle. Years later I found the Advanced Level more challenging in the stressful exams. I liked doing my degree and the exams weren't too bad. Teaching practice was quite tiring due to the long days compared to at university studying. I took country walks to relax me and sometimes I went swimming. Good luck.

I change for the worse, I think. I can become pretty irritable, but most of all, nervous. I shake and my mind is racing, yet I'm not there, and I'm only focusing on the exam... so I'm not the most sociable person on the planet in the times when I'm under pressure at the schools or universities.

Hi cmania
I remember when I was in college I was really like you. Exam, project, etc. It seems like you wanted to run of all these things. I noticed that I enjoyed much time when I'm busy. Yes, i enjoyed much when I'm busy. Until now, even I'm working full time I still look for online job to spare my time whenever I'm available. For me time is gold. So I don't want to waste time...
Think positive always hope for the best.
Thanks for sharing!

Change for the better. You'll miss that pressure in exams 10 years from now. Savor this moment that your problem now is to pass the exam. When we get older, bigger problems will come and you'll look back at this moment and wished that you're a student again.
I used to buy chocolates and eat them while studying. It relaxes me and it uplifts my mood. Good luck on your exam!

the solution to this type of stress is basic remedy that is been applied over all type of stress is that meditation. it makes you fell positive and biologically increases your blood circulation. thus you feel great and relaxed.
I do feel stressed out during the exam. I feel the goes as the desert sand that you hold in your hand. and about the change i would say that panic will lead you to worse but patience and effective hard work will lead you to better time during crucial situation.
