I'm seeing Ghosts in Your Great House, she said

My great House? I don't have a Great House but did mention it apropos in an response to a mylot friend.
So, I put my basket down as I was in a supermarket when this lady came up to me and asked me if I was Mrs -. I looked around nervously and said yes.
She then reminded me that we had met nearly two years ago when I went to my husband's ancestral home and she is the owner.(I was shocked at her appearance as she had aged.)
I had really wanted to see the cemetary as it was a private one containing only his family members - at that time they were all Jewish. Regretfully, she said that some of the graves had been descecrated and I found this very upsetting and will report it to the Rabbi.
In hushed tones she told tales, of seeing ghosts, white, black and all shades in between. She opened a closet and saw a man dressed in old fashioned clothes and he wore a wig. She spoke of hearing deep heavy breathing outside of her door and ghosts passing her in the house.
She then mentioned that she had my eldest son socially recently and was struck my his resemblance to one of 'her' ghosts as they looked similar except the ghost was of a fairer complexion but they WALKED with the same rolling gait as it were. Now this son walks exactly like his father so it may be a family thing.
She invited me to come and visit her and see the place in greater detail. It is so very beautiful and she has maintained its integrity. Wide curved mahogony staircases etc and magnificent furniture. Beautifully proportioned. She and her husband run it as an Inn for guests.
All this, and I had only stopped at the supermarket to buy bread and milk!
I asked her if she was scared but she said no as everyone was smiling. (A ghost that smiles)
Finally, she gently reminded me that although they love living there it is UP FOR SALE.
Today, I thought about this. Would I live in a Great House that is reportedly haunted by friendly ghosts? I think that I would - after I had blessed every nook and cranny.
Would you?
Oh, she had changed the name of the house. Do you think that this may have raised the ghosts from their slumber - so to speak?

Dawn - if I for a moment could afford to buy it and live there then I could afford staff to clean and cook and I would be living the life of Reilly

If you can afford it - buy it.
What if this old lady is being sent by God, an angel, who is trying to reach a message to you?
The house could possess some hidden treasures of untold riches which would turn out to save the entire nation from decimation. Go where your heart tells you.

On the other hand, I think you can offer to manage the property offer it to Hollywood for another Stephen King's thriller or whatever that can give the place more exposure, to aid it into a top tourist attraction.
Paranormal adventure is one of the most popular and upcoming tourist attractions. I am sure what you had mentioned is a real potential, one which could reap a handsome dividend for you.

Actually, If I had the money then I would buy it. There are some photos online as it is in tourism in a samll way. But I did feel an instant connection to it and the desecrated graves are a worry to me. going to email my Jewish friend shortly to tell him about it. He knows and has visited the cematary as he is a genealogist too. I would love it butnunfortunately we do not have this kind of money. I would have to sell our farml and I do not want to have to do that. I can dream a little though

I am not sure that I would buy it. I would be like you and have some kind of a religious service for the house. I know it would be wonderful if you could afford your husband's ancestral home. It would be awesome if you and your son could afford it together and give the twins a chance to have space there and the heritage.

There is no way that we could afford it but still, in view of its history, I do hope that she agrees to have a service not just in the house but in the cemetary. Some of the graves are over 250 years old

Or it was already haunted before she changed the name.
I don't think I could live someplace that was haunted.
There's a pub down the road from us that is supposedly haunted. They use the fact to try to get more business. It does fairly good business too.
I wouldn't mind visiting a haunted pub.. but I could never sleep at a haunted inn. I'd probably be scared out of my wits!

I suppose desecrating the cemetary could have caused the ghosts.. if they're really there. Perhaps she's just imagining it because of her guilt?

I honestly don't know Kat. I will see her in the next few weeks and will ask her if the other members of her family have seen them. You have an interesting point

She said that when they first bought it there were no hauntings. I shall ask her if her visitors are haunted when they stay there. I am wondering if this started with the graves being desecrated? I don't know if it is connected but I have a good friend who is Jewish si am going to ask his advise as to what should be done. But Kat. It is so very beautiful. In excellent condition plus pool etc.

I don't believe in ghosts, and if I did, I think I'd have a problem. I mean, can any ghost come into any house? If you get annoyed with one, how would you ban them? Could you call on a particular one to come visit? Because I kind of think it would be cool to do that. I pretty much said all this to my dad the other day. He looked at me and said, "You're weird."

I never believed in ghosts until I saw one in Holland. Turned out the house where |I was staying had been an old people's home and it was bombed by the Germans in WW11. I think that it may have something to do with the graves being desecrated. Evidently some souls stay instead of going on immediately. She said they were not evil. Over the years living here I have seen so many unexplainable things. There is evil and it should not be tampered with

It could be that or due to their graves being messed with.
Our family used to live in a haunted home in Florida years.ago. My dad later discovered small cemetery near the house and looked like someone had vandalized it. He believed the spirits were upset by it.
I'm not sure that I'd actually want to live with ghosts whether or not they were friendly. I've heard of some cases before where they started out that way, but then for some unknown reason they turned mean. Its best to send them to rest.

We joke about it but this is in jest. I totally agree with you. These poor souls should be laid to rest. did you see ghosts in the hauntedhouse in which you lived?

Yep. A young boy appeared in our parents bedroom and a look alike of our step mother went floating past us kids room and down the hall way. My siblings and I all saw her.

A great house at this time of my life no thank you. There would be to much work to maintain it. However, if younger and a bigger family definitely as long as the ghosts were friendly. I believe it could be fun having a house full of ghosts. Evil ghosts no way though. I have two daughters and I know the youngest one would love it. She visits a restaurant in New Mexico because its haunted.

Oh my. While I would love to visit a haunted inn, I cannot say I would want to live there...or even stay the night. I don't know if I would believe her when she says the ghosts are all smiling; it may be a ploy to sell the house. Also something to consider: Maybe she's not all there upstairs, if you know what I mean. ;)

Yes, it is hard to know what exactly is the truth from her this nis why I want to visit her again to find out more and to make a judgement. Living in the house is really just my little fancy as it is so very beautiful

I have a mole in one of my eyes. And when I was young, old people (ladies) back in my hometown would always tell me that my mole was a sign that I would be able to see ghosts. It scared the living crap of me when I was young!
But through the years, I've learned that it wasn't true, as I've never seen one. Nowadays, I think it would LIKE to see one. Specially a smiling one at that!
