I am serious. if it weren't for coupons, lot of things I couldn't do! Wednesday I got $140 worth of fabric and only paid $70 for it. Why? 50% off coupons! I got enough fabric for probably 5-6 quilts (that I make and sell) and then the scraps...put them all together and have another quilt (called a Scrap quilt) or...I use the larger scraps to adorn pillowcases and make things like cell phone covers, zipper pouches, and little things like that.
I use grocery coupons, and save about $20 from a $250 shopping trip..which is once a month. I use fast food coupons...which are often BOGO ones and something different than the dollar value meal. I use percent off coupons nad now.. I follow some quilting blogs and enter giveaways..and in the last 2 months, I have "won" in several drawings $225 worth of fabric! Fabric is rather expensive for anything more than normal stuff. Pre cuts and speciality prints are more.
So..do you coupon? Do you discount? do you Giveaway? And of course, I enjoy here at Mylot.. yeah I earn some, but also, learn alot and have some great friends with which to share and chat and even grumble with!

AmbiePam...
http://www.coupons.com/coupons
there's one called ecoupons or soemthing like that...check the side bar on coupons.com and see, but for the most part...one site is good enough as you can only get a limit of 3 per item, so another site wont give you more of the same, just if there are some it doesnt' have, so ...start with this one.

I do discounts, vouchers, coupons and giveaways but I can't do them as often and as much as I want to. For one thing, I always forget the coupons that I have printed. I am just starting and so I have yet to develop a good organization method for my coupons and vouchers that expire on me. I love it whenever I manage to save a couple of $$ off my full price bill.

I use a little binder with those plastic pocket things..like for base ball cards. I have larger ones as the binder I am using is a photo album! I like the bigger pockets. I added tab dividers for each department. WOrks great! I have the tabs based on the isles in the store and I always make the same route and have my list, but then also look at things on sale and then match with my coupons. Might not need that item this week, but I know I use it often and will go ahead and get it while on sale and with a coupon...saves me money next month!

I might elaborate...I have that binder for grocery items and stuff like that, but the fast food items or for a certain store discount... I keep them in an envelop in my purse. I dont plan my stops at fast foods, so I never know when I am going to stop so I just keep them with me...or sometimes I put the envelop in the console of my car...that way, I have them when I stop.

I seldom use coupons, I suppose it's because I haven't explore much into the coupons I can use locally. I have seen in some websites that I can print out some coupons to be used locally, I haven't look into them yet. I have not seen much coupons in print, except for McDonalds coupons. It's good to use coupons to save some money.

There are alot of sites to print them from, but...as i said...you only get 3 per month no matter where you print them from. I have tested it! I printed 3 from one site, then went to another site and tried the same item coupon and it said "print limit reached". So somehow they are all connected so I just stay on one and print and there is another that sometimes has a few the first one didn't, but for the most part..they restock first of the month, and I just go then, print 3 of each I want and don't have to bother with it anymore.

Oh yeah. Do you know (check with your store tho) Joann's takes Michaels coupons? Check it out.. I know they both have alot of the same things, but still have different things. Michaels is really far away and Joann's is about 15 miles closer so I just always go there and use Michael's coupons

That's great. I'd love to save that much, but stores here don't double coupons and that is the only way you can get things free...if you watch the sale and the store doubles a coupon. I usually can save the same as a tank of gas for my car.. We go twice a month. My husband is the problem tho..he wont' try anything new or nothing other than name brand items. Often, non-name brand is cheaper than name brand with a coupon!

Years ago when I only had $100 cash for food for a week for a family of four, the coupons were so much better than they are today...high values, not this "30 cents off 5 cans.." stupidity! They were dollar off or more! But I'd use the calculator and add as I go and add the regular price. Then at the register, the coupons would be taken off and the balance I had...went into a jar at home and that is how I was able to save a little for all the things the schools made the kids buy. Or during the summer, that was our "fun money".

I use coupons for groceries every week including today. I'm really loving putting coupons on my card, as then you don't have to even hunt for a coupon, so that is the easy way for my husband to save money.
We use fast food coupons also. My husband used one today for our dinner. The buy one get one free coupons are a great savings and mean I'm not cooking dinner tonight. Its nice to be able to just sit on Mylot and answer articles.
I do like to enter contests and have won a few items. I love it when we win free food, as we recently had 2 free dinners at a nice restaurant and sure felt like a special guest at the restaurant with our special table.

That's great! I dont do the cell phone coupon thing... I am not a cell person! I just clip and save! I know it might go to that being the only way...much like many coupons these days...online..to get them you have to go "like" their facebook page and then print it out.. I do that if the coupon is high value, but otherwise, I dont' bother with the hassle that facebook is in that respect. But there are a couple good online places to print out coupons. They "restock" them first of every month with new ones so I just go through and print them all the first of the month...you are allowed 3 of each per month. I have also recently found....that although there are several sites to print out coupons...they all come from the same place and no matter which site you are on...you can still only print 3 per each month. I had the idea to get more and go on each site to try to print...and after the first three... every site thereafter would tell me my print limit has been reached! So.. I stick with 2 sites, only cause one has a few the other doesn't have.
I love the fast food ones to. That is the only time I allow myself the luxury of fast food! I have also been doing contests, and so far, tehonly ones that I have won are giveaways on some fabric...which since I quilt.. I LOVE those giveaways! I have won about $225 worth of upper end fabric in the last two months...fabric you can't get at the local fabric stores!

I have honestly not been as good with couponing as I probably should be and that is not really a good thing because there is an awful lot of money that I would be able to save that I'm not saving.
However, I do try to do everything that I can in order to save money. I will look for clearance and manager's specials all the time. Then I will also try to get some give-aways when and where I can.

collecting the coupons is not entirely easy! And there are so many that I don't use. I can usually go through the circulars in the sunday newspapers and out of the 100 or so that is there.. I'll clip 10! They are for things I either don't use, don't need or or don't even want. I print them from online too...and again...it says "here's $235 in savings this month (they put them out monthly) and I go through them all and print out 10-15. But I have also joined the email list of certain stores and get the coupons online. Joann's craft store, Michaels craft store, Kohls, Macys..those kinds of stores, even Walmart and Target have their own coupons on their web sites... I go through them and print them out...usually the craft store ones as I dont' Walmart or Target much. Groupon is also a good place for coupons/discounts. I haven't done it much as I don't have that kind of money (I have to ask husband fo rmoney and if he doesn't think I need what I am planning to spend the money on, I don't get it!) but my daughter has control of her money and she was doing really good with Groupon for dicounts for things for her and her daughter. tickets and things like that she did alot.

We certainly owe a lot to the founder of the coupon. It has boomed into something so big over the years. I watched both my grandmother and my mother redeem coupons at the grocery store. When I became older I found myself doing the same thing. Coupons can be so rewarding. The savings and bargains you get with your coupons really help out your budget a lot.

They do. My mom never couponed, I did it as a necessity to make ends meet. And now having taught my daughter to do it, she is teaching her daughter do do it! I am annoyed at those extreme couponers on that tv show as they are trashing it for the rest of us on grocery coupons. They are already had to use...I mean..come on...30 cents off 3 items...10 cents per item isn't that great and often I can find another brand that is cheaper and a lower price without the coupon! Or they say you have to buy 3 to get $1 off...again, 30 cents isn't much to deal with if another item is cheaper and just as good! But it helps. There is only one grocery store in my area so I can't shop the sales anymore. But.. all in all, with common sense.. I still love coupons!

I am glad that you have found many coupons that have helped you save money. I am starting to sew and this Thursday I will be taking quilting which I am really excited about. I do belong to Joann's and get coupons from them, hoewever the Michaels stores do not sell fabric. I know that Walmart sells Fabric and sometimes I will check there as well. I also found a great fabric store called Quiltique which has a lot of great farbic. They do have a web site and ship in the United States and Canada. I will have to sign up for some of the blogs myself and see what others are makling.

The Michael's coupon I am talking about is 40% off a regular priced item. Joann's takes those. A regular priced item in the fabric department is a single length of fabric that is regular priced. I use it on the Legacy Studio quilting solids...they are $5.99 a yard, and I use that coupon or the 50% off one when it is regular price and get 2 yards for the price of one! It has to not be on sale tho. I just one of the 50% off ones and bought 4 yards of white... I use it alot and I got it for half price. But take that michaels coupon (get on their physical mailing list and online mailing list...you can take both of those to Joann's) and find what you need... problem is at Joann's, often....most everything is on sale! I take in Michael's, Hobby Lobby, and Joann's coupons every time I go. Check with the store manager first, stores might be different but the ones I have been to here in the Inland Empire...all take competitor coupons and as many as you have, as long as the UPC/scan bar numbers are different. I use 8 50% off and I think it was 4, 405 off coupons from those three places last week to get the $140 for only $70
I would watch Walmart fabric. Some of it isn't very good for quilting at least. IT says 100% cotton, and I am sure it is, but the thread count is lower than at Joann's or a quilt shop. That will make the fabric thinner and that isn't good when it comes to quilting. Plus, in my investigation of it...not only the thread count problem...but it is either only about 50 cent to $1 cheaper than Joann's anyway and with my coupons...that makes it cheaper at Joann's. Stuff like interfacing and thread is the same...but just watch the fabric. I just bought some for a quilt, brought it home and pre washed it, and it came out so thin and even stretchy, another thing you don't want in quilting...I always look at the bolt end for fabric content and it was 100% cotton it said...but apparently not a high thread count or a cheap cotton. Either way, i can't use it for quilting...to thin and to stretchy!

I always want to get coupons but unfortunately, most of the time, they are only available in US and Canada. If only these are available in my country, or there are things like these here, I would definitely grab and take advantage of it. Once I have tried to register in a site where they will send you free samples of lotions and I got one delivered in our office. I am happy with that. Some fast food here do offer some discount coupons and I actually have some McDonald's discount coupons in my wallet.

I haven't a clue how they do coupons outside the USA. But good that you can get even some for fsat food. I get those sometimes, but usually I just stick with the dollar menu... if I have a coupon it is a treat for something different, but still.. they have to be a "good deal".

Boy, you lost me! What are you saying? We aren't grumbling...we are, I guess, bragging about how well we have learned to make ends meet with a limited budget and then sharing with each other so we can all learn either how to save money, or any new ways to save more money. No addiction, just plain and simple making ends meet
