Hi guys! Just curious, if God lives in heaven, where was His residence before creating it then? Can somebody help me with this?

Hi! That is a very interesting question? God is a spirit and does not live in the physical universe. Did he also create the spiritual universe where the angels live?
We have yet so much to learn. I would venture that when we are capable of understanding more, God will tell us more.
We are still in kindergarten in the universal school. However, we have an eternity ahead of us and so stick around for the best is yet to come.

Where does God live?
Psalm 11:4 (YLT)4 `Jehovah [is] in his holy temple: Jehovah -- in the heavens [is] His throne. His eyes see -- His eyelids try the sons of men.
Notice how this translation uses "heavens" instead of "heaven"?

Thanks 1hopefulman after a few hours of searching, i found this verse to be very interesting. It somehow answered my question. Proverbs 8:31 ..."habitable part of his earth" Looks like God has His own Earth. Do you think that this is where we'll be when we are saved?

Hello there... i have a story to tell. Actually when i was a kid i used to asked that question but no one knows the answer, but maybe my story would enlighten u a bit...
"There was this man walking in the beach alone and thinking of that question, where did God came from? So as he walk he saw a kid doing something on the sand. The man approached the kid and asked what are you doing my child.... the kid said, i'm digging a hole and put the whole water (sea)in this hole. The man laughed and said to the kid, that is not possible... The kid look at the man seriously and said just like what you are thinking, you cant possibly know where God came from. The man was astonished and suddenly in a blink of an eye the kid disappeared."
For me i guessed there's really a question that we shouldn't ask God. Maybe its one way of a test for us as a believer.... "Walking by faith" =)
I remember also that there's a words in the Bible that if the whole life of Christ were written the world may not take it...

thanks Bentilo_Dalutag, I want to clarify that I wasn't asking for God's origin, but the for His place of dwelling before He created heaven & earth. Its a question of "where" not "how" or "why". I don't question God's existence because I know that He did not begin/start nor He will end. This story of that kid is good. I can relate to that. Proverbs 8:31 has somehow answered my question. what do you think of that verse? does is sound like it answered my question? have a great day.

It's an interesting question, but I think God is everywhere, not only in Heaven, he is all over around is, in our hearts, in our mind, just everywhere. HE is like an energy which just exists. And, what's more important, HE is always there when I need Him.

That's true, the more important thing is He can be beside us in times of trouble. Just the perfect time when we need Him.

our thought has limit and while of being in this body and having limitation, we are not permitted to have such of question. God is creator of everything , even heaven and hell, God is not like us to be in need of residence somewhere. it is a power, a light, who is everywhere and power of making whatever from nothing.

That's true. I really do not want to think of things that go beyond my reach. What interests me is that, the Bible is so amazing that so far it has answered all of my questions just like this one. In this discussion, I have these verses answered my question:
Proverbs 8:31
John 14:2

if we read the scripture, we could see that even before earth was created, heaven already existed. and if i'm not mistaken, the place we were promised, which Jesus aptly described as "house of many rooms" (Jn 14:2) is Heaven... that's HIS permanent address, and our future address... hehe

This is another verse to prove that God has residence just before creating Heaven and Earth. Thanks JohnDArtist, very helpful.

no one knows where does God lives...
but don't you think your faith is enough for you to know that our living God is there.no need for us to know where he is...
but if you think your not satisfied..
I hope this bible verse answer your question.

I'd like to know because He promised that it is the place where we'll be when we are saved. 1 Kings 8:27 only says where He does not live. Any verse that mentions His dwelling place?
