My friend likes watching TV series but I like to watch movie much more. The reason is usually the movie just lasts about 2 hours. Whereas the TV series can have many seasons and sometimes you have to wait for a long time to watch the new episode. I am not a patient person and therefore the waiting time is so painful for me.

I prefer to watch the TV series to be honest. I love Stargate SG1 and still I haven't got to the end of the series, we are far behind here and I am still playing catch up, they also have repeats too which I don't mind watching, it's an hours entertainment, well minus the commercials which is another downside of watching TV series! Why they have to stick so many in an hour I don't know. I just get into the story and bang more commercials!

I loved Stargate SG1, at least in the beginning before they started changing characters. I used to watch the reruns when they were on here. At some point, I want to watch the whole series again in order on Netflix.

I completely agree with you. I am not a patient person myself and therefore when I read a book, i usually read the first and the last chapters and then read the ones in between. I just cant wait for the entire season to get over to know the suspense. So I would also say movies are prefered.

If you know who did something in a book why read the beginning.
There was a series of TV movies, Columbo, where they showed you the murder and who committed it and then you had to watch how Columbo would figure it out. Columbo also had a way of seeming to be a bumbling detective which tended to make the murderer get off his guard.

Live action theatre is better than either of those options. Movies is a winner over tv series though. The wait time of episodes and new seasons now has gotten ridiculous. It didn't used to be that way.

Right. They wanna torture us with all that waiting. I gave up keeping track of show because of that.

I don't have TV anymore, so I use Hulu plus and Netflix. I like both the TV series and movies. I watch whatever I want to see. I tend to go from the pilot to the last episode. On Netflix come episodes are over 100 episodes. Not so much on Hulu cut I do like the variety.

Oh wow cool, but that must also mean that you watch series that aren't new. New series take long time to be released in between seasons. I hate waiting in between seasons to be honest,

I dont like series too. Not only does it take so much time to watch. It cuts you and leaves you hanging in between episodes and that just sucks. Sometimes they make you wait through in between seasons so long it gets frustrating,

But in the first pace i regret ever starting the series anyhow. this is a double edged cut.

the other issue with tv series is they tend to show them out of order and you may see the same thing 3 times before you see something new

yes this is true if they had a better budget it would have a better show

The total budget for a TV show might be as much as for a movie but it is spread out over a full season.
Reruns tend to be shown out of order but the first time through the are shown in sequence.

i love watching anything..
but for TV Series - i will usually follow the ones that dont continue with one another - so, if i missed one, i cant still watch the next one without really missing anything - so things like 'CSI', 'Suits', 'The Good Wife'.
the dramas with long-winding-confusing storylines - i dont really like, and i try NOT to start watching - coz you'll get hooked
... but 'luckily' you have the option to buy them on CD's - Annnnddd later realize that you DONT HAVE TIME to watch them anyways...

Youless, it is depending on my time. If i have more time and not hurry to go traveling to any other destination, then i would prefer to watch a TV series. It is because their stories are more interesting. But, if i don't have the time to be spend on watching TV, then i would go for movie. Indeed, watching movie is quite interesting only that the story being cut short. That's why, i think both have their own interesting part of entertainment.

For me, either would do for as long as it has a good story line then I am sure to watch it.
Sometimes it is exciting to watch those series coz you get to have a longer time watching your favorite actor. And sometimes, the story is real good that you wouldn't want it to end!

for sure tv series take more time and they are lagging each day whereas within a frame of 2 hours we can get to the conclusion of the movie always

I prefer series over movies here. Because most movies are 2 hours or more, and put me to sleep here.

Yeah, I do not have enough patient to watch a TV series and I prefer a one sitting movie for two to three hours. I remember when I was still a kid those drama series are being watched by grannies and so I with siblings and we did not have any choice but to watch also lol.

Movie has a time limit, so usually it will choose the fast way to present its meanings but will lose a lot of details for some description. While TV series can have a lot of time to clearly describe the mental situation, but most of them are wasting time in doing some meaningless things or just use pretty girls and boys.

It make be deja vu but I remember a discussion like this before.
I tend to like TV shows over movies because they are shorter. Also you get to follow the same characters from show to show. In some dramas you have to wonder if any of the characters will get killed off before the end of the year.

It doesn't matter for me if it is a movie or a tv series. As long as I like the story I would watch it. Although it is better if it is a movie because you would already know the whole story in one sitting.
Have a great day!

Hi,
you are right. it is better to watch movies on TV than the series. Some series are very interesting in the beginning but we get bored after some episodes. In India some series in Hindi and Marathi are continuing for more than 10 years. they have same stories about mother in law, daughter in law, or jealousy and all that I don't want to see. I like to watch some crime stories which are based on the real stories. They are very interesting.

I get your point but there are so many great tv series too that have already ended. You can always go to IMDB and checkout there ratings and watch them for what they are worth. Some tv series are really great too, if you can just give them a chance you might realise there's nothing wrong with them.

Myself too prefer TV since we can know the result or the climax soon. And very very bad thing in serials is the they prolong the series with matters in it for months and years. So stuff is there or not, movie get over in few hours.
