What would you do?

Today started out pretty good, I wasn't feeling too bad, despite this darn congestion in my chest. We got dressed, ran Booboo to the vet because he has a tiny lump in his throat. My beloved cat, The Doctor, had one too that turned out to be cancer. Dr. J suggested just keeping an eye on it to make sure it didn't get bigger. We brought him home. Then we ran off to do some other errands. Went to Goodwill, Lowes and Walmart. We actually needed a new way to keep the screen door to the front room closed because the hook keeps failing because of it being only one screw. Then we went over to wait until the roomie's nephew and family could join us for breakfast, we went to Big Lots to kill a little more time. After breakfast, well, it was MUCH closer to 2 p.m., we were done and taking the great-nephew to our place for the night, we headed for home. Just as we were leaving IHoP I started feeling bad. When we got home I had to... spend some time in the bathroom... Well, the roomie wanted to fix dinner and wanted to know if I wanted anything. No. I am not hungry, my stomach kind of hurts and feels "full" even if it isn't. I probably need to eat something, maybe later, to take my meds, but right now, I'm thinking of laying down - only 7:30, but I feel bad. Still, I fixed the door so we don't have to tie it closed and hung the new spice cabinet and started a load of dishes in the dishwasher, so I've not been totally unproductive despite feeling less than well. If you feel sick, do you not want to do things? Do you find you have to do them anyway?

Yeah, this coughing is KILLING me! I earned a bit on the extra days, but I didn't have much time to work on the Lot so I didn't earn as much as I'm sure some did.

I hope u are feeling better. Sounds like u had a pretty busy day. I feel bad every day but so far am managing to do what needs to be done around here. No one else to do anything. Sons are good but i don't expect them to do my chores. Take care of yourself.

I don't have anyone that can help too much unless I pay them around here. But I sure didn't feel like doing anything beyond vegging in front of the computer, and soon to head to bed...

If I feel miserable I often have to do things anyway or they do not get done. I went through a couple of months of feeling gross every time I ate, etc. I can really identify. I also can see that fixing that hook was a pressing matter.

Yeah, the hook had to be fixed... and I've had times where every time I ate I felt bad, but never for more than a few days... if it were longer, I might actually lose weight!

It depends. If it's a full on migraine there is no choice. I'm probably not able to do anything. If it's nausea I'm also limited. Everything else, yes, I try to stay busy. Unless it's my back. In which case I try not to move at all. lol I sure hope your cat is okay.

yeah, migraines are pretty debilitating... And nausea can keep me still, because if I START throwing up I won't quit! No, really... I have to take medicine to stop once I start. Its been that way since the early 1980's...

I'm so sorry to hear this, Elic! Wow! It's no fun feeling like you are. It affects everything you do. I really hope that you're feeling much better very soon! I'd much rather have a sprained ankle than whatever is causing your issue. (Something you ate? Virus? Flu?) When I feel sick, I don't want to do anything but feel better. Now that my sons are grown, I'm able to relax more than I could when they were young. Mommies can't take time off. I admire what you've managed to do while feeling so bad. Feel better soon, okay?

I think I'd rather have the stomach thing, at least I can reasonably expect it to be better in a day or so... when I sprained my ankle it was MONTHS before it was quite right - I heal very slowly. Did you get the ankle checked?

Yep, got it checked. It's sprained with possible tendon damage. They said the tendon is definitely affected but they couldn't tell me if it was a tear or just swollen so I have to see an orthopedic surgeon this week. If it's still as painful, I'll probably have to go in for a CT scan or MRI. I HOPE not! I've had too many physical issues in the past few years. Geez. Right now I have a splint on it and have to use crutches. The splint is really cool; it has two pads on each side of the ankle that can be removed and put in the freezer and they stay cold for awhile, taking the place of an ice pack. I hate the limited movements and walking around with crutches but I am allowed to put a little weight on my foot since there are no broken bones. I'll know more whenever I can get in to see the orthopedist.

I do not like to do anything at all when I don't feel well. In my place though, if I don't do the chores they never would get done. Needless to say, I need a better roommate.

Children... such a lot of joy... and some days you have to wonder if it might not be worth it to do the time... And the cats, some days I'm all for letting them out and fending for themselves... and then Timus puts his arms around my neck or Oliver licks my chin or...

Ugh...sounds like maybe food poisoning? I am a Mom of 7 so when I am sick or not feeling so well, unfortunately for me, life goes on as usual. I have a great husband who will do whatever needs to get done so I can rest/lay down. But, when he is at work it is work as usual for me.

I don't think it was food poisoning, I have a lot of food allergies and I think that I might've gotten a passing touch of it at the restaurant. I still have to get up and do stuff, there is just a limit to how much I have to do. I'll only do the absolute minimum of what I have to do.

When I don't feel well the only thing I want to do is sleep. I try not to do anything if I don't have to. I live alone so it is usually no problem. I hope you feel better soon

I hope I do too. I have to go out during the week to work, and I'm still covering for whoever isn't doing Maggie's weekend work! I don't mind the extra money, but I really need the time off!!!

When I am sick, I don't like to do anything. I would just like to rest and get well immediately. I wouldn't want to make it worse or spread it and give it to someone else. I figure it would be way more inconvenient if my condition would worsen and it would take me more time to get well just because I forced myself to do stuff.

Unfortunately, I can't seem to catch a break, my client really doesn't need to catch what I have, but they don't have anyone to cover if I stay home and she needs daily help... Besides, staying in bed just isn't going to happen, like last week I had to have an MRI and other stuff done.

strange i also had a bad bout right after i ate today. i bet we would be blaming each other of coming down with something if we lived together. i usually have to do for myself and coco even when im sick. but today it hit me bad. i layed in the front room, afraid to be alone where son was waTCHING ONE OF THOSE SHOOT EM UP ARMY SHOWS oooppss caps lock! but im not typeing it over. anywaym i dosed off after drinking some of the marshmallow root tea. which always makes me rest and calms my tummy also. then, an hour later i was good to go. got up, stacked the dishwasher, wiped counters, started it, and went and folded sons clothes from the dryer so i could do my bed clothes. and change my bed. so, yes i got busy as soon as i was better. hope something isnt going around again like stomach flu....uuuuggghhh!

When I feel sick, I swear.. I feel totally down and out. I do not consider myself as one of those individuals who has a high tolerance or threshold for pain. I work from home, so luckily I do not have to call in to work or anything like that. My mom, grandmom, dad and boyfriend are a great support system for me when it comes to my daughter.. so I don't really have it too bad. I just try to focus on getting better. Another thing is... I despise taking medicine and I'm not good with keeping up with taking it around the clock like I'm supposed to because of that.. lol.. ahh well I'm only 25.. I guess it will get better as I grow older.. (as far as my being more responsible with my health)..
