Scam Phone Call

I received a call today from a lady telling me that I had won a prize for being a loyal subscriber of my landline. I was of course wary, but not to be rude I allowed her to finish what she needed to tell me and I got the name of the company and my so called prize. I searched for the company online and found that it is indeed a scam and it has been going on since last year. I don't mind about the scam since I did not fall prey to them, but what's more alarming for me is how these people are able to get hold of my number and they know my location.
I called my phone provider to report the incident but unfortunately the girl who answered my call seems to be on her first day because I could hear the nervousness on her voice. I wonder how many here have gotten the same scam phone call? The company is Asian Network Development Corporation.

I knew where you're coming from. Scam phone calls are indeed prevalent these days and I think almost everybody has received a call like that. These nuisance callers have a lot of ways to get someone's phone number so it's a waste of time if you wish to trace how they got you number.
What you should do instead is contact your telephone company and have them block this caller. That should filter all the future calls from coming through.

i have such an experience, and there was this time that upon receiving such a call that they picked me that i have won a health card i did went to see how it was (i knew it was scam) i went there without bringing any money, credit cards with me, just my phone. their building was next to ours and i was curious so i went and checked it out. it turned out to be Prudential Life.
They are going to give me a health card if i avail an insurance. hahaha :) so there! its not 100% scam but they found a way to make people go and check them out (A marketing campaign). So i just turned them down and told them to put me out of the list and don't call me again.
I think these phone companies, or credit card companies extract their records and someone from inside could be selling the numbers to companies as their list for call out and for tele marketing purposes. :D
Just ignore the call and you know there are no longer freebies such as that. We know we did not join any contests so its not very likely we will to win anything from anywhere.

I have never heard of that company and have never been notified by them that i won a prize or something.
Though, i have been texted a lot of times that i won 750,000.00 pesos but would have to talk to an Atty.
I didn't even answer because i know that it is a scam.

Hi anne!
I really don't know that they will be doing that through phone calls also. I received a lot of messages similar to that one but this is the first time I have known about calls.
Let us be careful and inform our family and friends about this new scam technique.
Thank you for sharing this information.

well, anniepenny, i'm not really surprised that you had presence of mind and investigated it yourself afterwards. you've always been street smart.
thanks for describing the scam and most importantly, giving the name of the company. i hope you call the phone company again to follow up what they're doing about it. and rog is correct, it would be good to report them to the authorities, too, so other victims will be spared.

We have had a scam call, but that was all about our pc has a virus, lol, mmm, I was polite by listening what the man had to say, then I calmly told him that I have no computer in my house, so he went on to say I had a lap top, so I said I did not have any lap top, with that he mumbled something and put the phone down.I didnt say I had 4 laptops and 4 pcs at this address, as this is another scam that has also been going on for years and just like you I have no idec how they got my number, as I am ex directory, so they should not even be able to call me.

Hello Anne25peen, the only prize that i would love to win is the lottery because were i put my bet to. if there was one scam we believed to have fool us here was Prudential Life, my mom thought it was free until she was force into swiping her card for the first deposit. that office of theirs disappeared after years of waiting for the returned savings. when their agent called the second time, my mom told her that we've been fooled already and then she dropped the phone.

It's good to know that you're aware that its a scam. They probably got your number and location by buying leads from telecommunication companies and/or other source. What surprising is that these scams continue to operate. Authorities have to do some thing about them. Good for you that you have not fallen prey to these scam artist, but what those people who are foolish enough to believe their coy?

i have received lots of scam messages but couldn't remember a phone call.
always the same number and sometimes pretending to be a relative telling me that it's their new roaming number.
i wonder how long will these people stop playing their games. maybe there are still few who believes in them that's why they still fool people.

Never heard of this company. Woh! its scary that they have your information. These guys might have access to some sort of database to be able to get your details. I guess it'd be better to bring this to the authorities.
