I will never adopt a dog from there

I went in to drop the foster guinea pig at the shelter I volunteer at. They have coordinators for each department. They usually have a spare rabbit cage sitting around, well they didn't. I didn't know where they are stored. There was a few people standing out in the lobby, I go up and ask. This lady is the dog coordinator, she is so rude and ignorent. Many people have said they would never adopted a dog or tried, and didnt because of her. She goes they are in the mechanical room, I stood there, and go where would that be. She goes in the back, all snotty. The other lady told me where to go, I was ready to slap her. Again, she is middle aged, had a kid few years ago, and supposeable got 100x worse. Just because she hates her life, and regrets it, don't take it out on everyone else. When I walked by with a cage, she goes why do you need that. Clearly, I just walk in with a guinea pig, and put bedding and food in to abdonded them. I walked out and gave her a dirty look, how anyone adopts dogs from that place is beyond me, if I didn't volunteer there, I would walk out, and not go back, maybe thats why the shelter has a bad name.

It's beyond my mind how people like this could be employed at animal shelters... I mean, I would not let someone sounempathic to work with animals. It's awful.

I wonder how that mean spirited woman even got a job there. That's sad that her manner is so bad. They might get more adopting people if she was nicer.

I agree, she is so rude, and angry. I mean when you are adopting animals out yes you have to be careful and question them. But I volunteer there, adn there regularly.

It's not fair that the dogs suffer and don't get adopted just because the woman is a total jerk. Better to adopt them and get them away from her. Maybe you can find a new person to take her position seeing as she isn't doing a good job and had horrid inter personal skills.

They will keep bringing in dogs, I remember a few weeks ago. A couple adopted a dog, but seeing as it has bad behavioural problems they wanted to get training. They came to visit the dog, and brought treats. There are no notes, she was never around to warn them. They gave the dog rawhide, and it made the dogs gum bleed. She wrote a note everywhere saying now she has to bring the dog to the vets and carried on.

That's what I said, there must be more wrong with the dog. I've heard in the past that they find things out, and don't bring it to the adoptive families attention. She's just overall bitter attitude, even when you walk in the room you just get the vibe. I work in a pet food supply store, we handle those amasing treats everyday.

i hate her for that. she is making it hard for people to come and give pets a home. that kind of attitude is no place for someone working in an animal shelter. she should be fired.

hmmm. i wonder if someone can report her. don't they notice the high turn around of volunteers. well, it's a good thing you are still there anyway. you will get good karma for what you are doing, especially in light of her.

I work in a different department (I work with small animals), and have a different coordinator. But I've seen her a handul of times.

She is, I can't believe she could act like this. No wonder she goes through so many volunteers as well.

It definitely doesn't sound like this woman is a fun person to deal with and I really hate that because all of the people that I've ever encountered at the animal shelters seem to really like being there. The only raw experience that I've ever had was when we wanted to adopt a kitten and we got to the satellite office just about twenty minutes before they closed. They refused to give a few minutes more of their time so that we were able to go through all of the paperwork for the adoption.

Exactly, over all the people who are there are nice. But she just as this bitter attitude, and more self center type attitude. Just her body language and facial expressions tell.

Is that the same guinea pig you had at your house? I thought you were keeping it. Will it get killed if not adopted? I hope not.

Oh okay good. I was concerned there for a moment. I know you are such a good mom to your babies. I'm glad that it might get adopted.

Nope, my guys are staying. I arranged with the lady I am petsitting for that I would bring it back if there was interested. Turns out the guinea pig was adopted, then being brought back.

I don't think so, I simple will ignore her, and in the end that department will get a bad rep, and less adoptions. I just wonder what else she says and does to others.

That is true. But stirring the pot will cause more issues for me. I want to get the experience, for future jobs and schooling to beneit myself.

Is she a volunteer, too, or is she paid, being the co-ordinator? Either way, I guess she can't be easily replaced. Too bad.

I believe they are volunteers unpaid. She is rarely there, and when she is noone likes her, she's like the black plague that walks through. Most pretend to like her, but the other day she was complaining about how much things she has to do, and her kids sick, well if you are under that much stress, and can't fullfill you duties step down get someone who is competent to do the job.
