I love drinking coffee. I started when I was in high school and we ran out of milk at home and didn't feel like drinking fruit juice or tea at that time so my mom made me a cup of coffee instead. That was the start of my being a coffeeholic. I share that passion with my mom. She loves a steaming cup every morning and afternoon. Having morning coffee has become our ultimate bonding moment, especially for the past months since it's the only time of the day that our schedules meet. Since I work the night shifts, I've been dependent on coffee for extra boost of energy and to help me stay awake and alert at work everyday. However, I guess I've been drinking more coffee and less water so I decided to go fasting, not on food but on coffee. I think it's time to wean myself off too much caffeine which has given me tremors, sleeplessness and palpitations the past few weeks after drinking more than 4 cups everyday. So far, I've been without coffee for 2 weeks and counting. I try to drink more water often. The urge to have even just one cup of latte or macchiatto or espresso or even just a plain brewed black coffee is so strong in the office, but I have to resist if I want to be
tremors-and palpitations free. I substitute warm water to coffee instead and hot tea at times for breakfast. I know one of these days I'll be drinking coffee again but I have to limit my intake for my own good.

I allowed myself to lose control, so now I'm trying to gain it back. I'll go back to drinking coffee again soon but hopefully not as much as I used to. Right now, though, I have to get used to drinking more water to cleanse and detoxify my body from too much caffeine.

four cups of coffee a day is alot. i can't drink more than one cup every day, or else i will be sick. that is a good choice you made to cut back on coffee on drinking more water. i hear green tea is a wonderful coffee substitute. it also is known to give you a boost of energy.

Four cups was just my minimum per day a few weeks back, and yes, I know it's a lot. I used to consume coffee like water especially in the office where it's for free. :P Although the coffee vending machine is just beside the water dispenser, I still opted for the former. I used to drink green tea, too, but that's before I started working the night shift. I'll go back to drinking it again and more water.

Drinking coffee isnt bad but you just have to limit it. I guess 1 cup of coffee a day is good but drinking tea is much better. Have you tried to drink milk tea? It is healthy and yummy too! And it is from green tea leaves, a health component in weight lost. It is now a favorite in our place because of the sweetness and tea flavor that people enjoys.

I have another friend who is into coffee and really loves it. However, it was getting to her, so she tried to compensate by switching to hot cocoa, without all the added sugars. She said it was working for her. I don't know, perhaps something you could try as well. Both have caffeine. But cocoa is healthier.

mei_bel,
I too used to drink lots of coffee earlier, with milk and sugar and very strong. But when I wanted to reduce my weight I started to have it without sugar .But after some time I started to have coffee-no milk,no sugar. But now at the most I drink 2 cups one day.If you don't watch it it is very easy to become a coffee addict.

I just learned how to drink coffee when I got married coz my husband drinks coffee since I College I think.
So when I was working in a call center, the office provides free coffee for everyone. And me being not used to working late at night (I was mostly on a graveyard shift), I become so sleepy by 1am. I would be drinking about 2 mugs of coffee to keep me alert. When I g0t home by 7am, my nanny would prepare me breakfast and that also includes a cup of coffee. Man, by the time i feel sleepy, it is almost time for my kids to come home and I need to help them study. So I was just left with 2-3 hours of sleep everyday. I gave up on that job even if I have just started loving it.
Just months ago, I was drinking 2 cups a day and then felt palpitations. I stopped drinking coffee for a week. And the palpitations stopped. However, I just love having coffee in the morning. So now, I just take a cup each day.

I'm a caffeine addic which is a lot like coffee addiction. I get heads when I do have some all day. So when I was pregnant only one soda or pieces of chocolate once a dad or it'll hurt my baby at that time. After a few weeks it always gets better it works best to lower in take slowly but some times cold turkey has to be done.

I can only take 2 cups of coffee in a day and that's my limit. More than that and I will have a headache or an upset tummy. So even if I want to have some more, I simply can't if I don't want to spend the rest of the day sleeping the headache off or being near the toilet all the time. Like you, I tried to go coffee free for a while. And I discovered that I can do that. But since I don't want to, I guess. Well just enjoy a cup a day.
