Why is Xperia SL priced so low?

I currently live in Malaysia and RM1200 is the price from Sony for an Xperia SL which is an upgrade of Xperia S which is priced at RM1800. Upgrades have been the CPU (1.5GHz to 1.7GHz) and the colors as well. I am hoping to buy an Xperia for my girlfriend for her birthday, but this looks too good to be true. Is there no issue with the SL?
