I took my son to see Oz, The Great and Powerful tonight. I was a little leary of going to see it and I thought it would be a big disappointment, but it was actually really good. My son loved it as well. It really was a different twist on Oz and at first I didn't think I would like it, but it kept me interested as the movie went on. Have you went to see it? If so, what were your thoughts on the movie?

I would love to watch it, but I don't have the time and the resources these days. A lot of friends told me that it really was a great movie, same with that about Jack and the Beanstalk.
Did you tell your son the story prior to going to the movies? It would be great if he was told the story first, so as to expand the imagination first. hehe.. That's what we do with our nephew. We'd tell him the story first prior to showing him the movie (for those with familiar titles though). Then he'd remark that he could really understand the story better and most of his questions are now answered.
Good bonding time with your son! Have a great mylot experience ahead!

We took our daughter to see it and even though it was good, it wasn't awesome. Our favorite Oz story is still "Return to Oz". I hope they make more movies about Oz, and do a better job.

Graphics-wise, the movie is certainly great! The details, the landscapes, the special effects were good. Kids and adults would be thrilled by it.
However, i have a few things that I find disturbing about the movie, which I will be talking about in my next discussion.

I haven't seen it. I do know it is supposed to sort of like a prequel to The Wizard of Oz. Some things(the twists you mention) are a little different perhaps because Warner Brothers has the rights to The Wizard of Oz and Oz, The Great and Powerful is made by Disney and Disney had to avoid some things that are in the Warner movie. I also heard that it is a good show for kids but I don't know about that. You can probably judge that for us though.

I haven't been to the movie theater since Thor was on. We will probably see this when it comes on DVD. We just don't go anymore. It's gotten too expensive. Maybe at the cheaper one but that is all. Glad you and your child enjoyed it.

I just finished watching it and I thought it was very good.I wasn't sure myself if I was going to be interested in this moive; however, I was wrong I really like it. The way they twisted the story was entertaining and I thought very well done. The cast was really good as was the beautiful scenery throughout the movie. The Wizard of Oz was my daughter's favorite movie growing up and still is. I'm just wondering if she will like this movie as much. I'm sure my granddaughter will love it.

I'm still on the fence on whether I should go watch it or not. I love the Wizard of Oz, the book, and the original film, and I'm really interested in any remakes or retellings, but... the only one I read of the books was Gregory Maguire's Wicked, and that didn't really impress me. So I'm a bit afraid of the re-interpretations. Also, it looked too busy with all those 3D and computer stuff, too heavy on my eyes, I mean, the trailer. But at the same time, I'm interested about the story :D.
