Yes they did sing.
Anne Hathaway is an opera singer and her mother is also a professional opera singer.
The other lead actors/actresses are indeed good singers.

Hi,
Sorry, but Anne Hathaway isn't an opera singer. Always has been an actress - started in high school, then on stage, then film. She can sing, though. If you've seen Ella Enchanted, you'll hear a good voice there.
You must have mistook her for Samantha Barks, who is a trained singer like Lea Salonga, and also acts.

yes usually they sing . Remember Moulin Rouge and Chicago and the PHantom of the Opera, I wondered if they sang because the voices are quite impressive. Yes, true they were sang by these actors and actresses. I think they have this training before filming and besides they make the movie for years.

Yes, it was their own voices, and they sang on the set. Most of the time they lip sync and then go in the studio and record the songs. This director had them sing directly from the set while they were filming the scenes. The cast also sang together this year at the Oscars.

This movie was exactly that - a musical/opera on film. Some of these actors & actresses can already sing before getting on it. I watched the film trailer and & a few videos showing how they prepared for it, and all of them had to have more vocal training in preparation. Hugh Jackman's talent became all the more evident to me. He got famous in film, but started out on stage in Australia.

Yes they are indeed good actors and actresses. I think it’s their singing. Although I’m not sure whether they are trained singers but they are good singers after all.

It was originally a musical until they turned it into a movie, they did that with Evita, Evita was a stage musical then it was made famous by Madonna and because Madonna did a lot of the lyrics it was brilliant. Antonio Banderas also sung as well which is unusual, as Antonio Banderas is more of an actor in Hollywood. I haven't seen Les Miserables the musical or the film, mum saw the musical but didn't enjoy it. I do remember at School we had a trip to see the musical but I didn't go, the teacher played us a song from the musical entitled 'Master of the House' I always remember that song even now!

Yeah they are good but I suspect the way it was delivered it was indeed an impersonator the timing of on the opening of their lips is sometimes not on time with the tune of the music but I do agree no question they are a very good actors and actresses.
