Yesterday around 1 pm here in Chicago, a father and his 6 month old daughter were shot while he was changing her diaper in the front passenger seat. The father was the target. The 6 month old died this morning. When I heard on the news, coming from a priest that everyone is responsible for this shooting, that made me very angry! No one but the man who shot the father and shot and killed the 6 month old is responsible! Everyone is responsible for their own actions, not for anyone else's! How is the priest going to explain that everyone is responsible for someone else's actions? That is the worst thing ever to say. Now, if any criminals saw him say that, "everyone is to blame for my actions but me!" The priest needs to apologize on tv for saying that everyone is responsible for one man's deadly actions!

Everyone is responsible...
You need to stop feeling sorry for yourself and wake up.
Did anyone rush out to grab the shooter?
Has anyone named the shooter?
Everybody keeps quiet... Honour amongst scum and all that.
WE ARE RESPONSIBLE for failing standards in society, we don't care about the bigger picture. All we care about is us, the individual - Have we got enough money, have we got the latest gadget.
We have lost all social responsibility in the 21st century - Nobody cares about anybody else. That is why scum can roam the streets shooting, stealing and dealing, BECAUSE YOU WILL NOT SAY OR DO ANYTHING
How do I know that you are responsible?
Because you are bleating about how it is not your fault.
Don't feel too bad that you have been found out - we are all alike.
I should add that I do know of some that actually do care for others

You really need to think twice before saying that I am responsible!

Why?
Are you not part of this society that has allowed all this to happen?

Its really a sad and shocking news. How is everyone responsible? The man who shot them was responsible or maybe he had his own reason to do so who knows. But how can a priest say so its no right. We have no need to feel guilty of what we have not done isnt it?

hi Nandita, what a sad incident..I am not sure what the priest
meant by saying everyone is to blame for what happen..I do know
it certainly affect all of us in one way or another...When we
heard incidents like this it affect us by relating to our own
familys..It could happen to any of us at any time..

What a horrible story! I just don't understand how anybody could shoot another person, much less a child...
I've found a lot of articles about it from different places but all of them quote the pastor as saying that they're not going to stop until they catch the people who are responsible for the shooting. Do you have a link to an article or video where he says that everybody is responsible? It sounds so much different than what I've read about it so far... I'd love to know just what he said.

Hi ! The priest there meant when he said we are all responsible was that each and everyone of us have a moral obligation to our fellowman. He may be our relative or not , a friend or not , our moral obligations would always be there hence all of us are part of the society. We revolve in just one place , one planet . I remembered when i was still bit small , this i often heard from our teachers and the priest that we are responsible always to our fellowman. All of us are called to do our share in our community , because we are part of it therefore whatever happens , we are one to be asked and blamed.
