Hiii Friends... I started using spects when I was 16 year old. So just got a question in my mind that was is more convenient spects or lenses? Many of my friends suggested me to use contact lenses as they I look good without spects.. lol... I find spects more convenient as I am now use to it. We can use it whenever and wherever we want that to without a time limit.. I hardly take care of my spects. On the other hand we have to take utmost care of lenses and we can use it for limited time only. But sometimes I get irritated with my spects as when I want to get into the crowded train I have to handle my spects first amd then take care of myself. Hahaha...My spects have broken many times because of this and i can hardly see anything without them. :-( It would not have happened with lenses... What say?? What do you think friends?

Hi there! i prefer spects because generally llenses and high maintenance. It also is a bother that you have to put them in your eyes and when you forget about it when you are too tired, i'd say its really dangerous. I am the kind that lacks or finds ceremonies too tiring(i'm lazy with maintenance, yah) so i would choose spectacles or eye glasses. =)

Haha... Same pinch. Even I am lazy. I have read that one loses its eyesight if we forget to remove contact lenses. Are they that dangerous? Happy Posting

Has no one heard of disposable extended-wear contact lenses?! They are meant to stay in your eyes. You can even sleep in them! There is less maintenance than caring for glasses. When you are done with them, you throw them away. I am amazed how dangerous many people think contact lenses are. They are no more dangerous than eyeglasses are. I wear extended wear. I don't have to clean them like glasses. In fact, I never clean them, I throw them out. I can go out in the rain without them getting splattered. They don't fog up. They don't slide down my nose. No one can knock them off or break them. I've been wearing lenses for over 40 years. I forget about mine all the time. Guess what? They haven't caused me to go blind!

Thank you. Once I went for a routine check up the doctor told me the experience of a girl who lost her eyesight temporarily. So I had fear about those lenses. But you explained it very well. I will try to search those lenses. Happy Posting

I am short sighted. I got reading glasses when I was 10 years old and my eyesight got slowly so bad I needed them all day long. In my late teenage years I didn't like wearing my glasses. I felt so awful wearing my glasses as I thought I couldn't look pretty wearing them. On my trip around the world I had a pair of prescription sunglasses however I had to wear my glasses after dark. Whilst in Sydney I decided to get contact lenses. The optician helped me get used to taking them in and out. I had them on 2 hours, then 4 hours, then 6 hours and so on until all day. I stored them in solution in the night and they lasted for 2 weeks. When I went back home I got ones that lasted for 4 weeks. Eventually I went to daily disposable contact lenses. Getting contact lenses was one of the best ever decisions I have made. I have got a pair of glasses for wearing in the night and when my eyes are sore.

Back in the day when I first started wearing contact lenses, all they made were hard lens and those you did have to put through an arduous cleaning and disinfecting process, but this is the 21st century, those days are (thankfully) long gone. Disposable lenses are meant to be thrown out after use. No muss. No fuss. And those you do clean involve rubbing a drop or two of cleaning solution on with your thumb and finger. No harder than cleaning glasses. See my response below about extended-wear lens. Those are absolutely carefree. I never take them out, read in them, sleep in them. Only take them out to put in a new pair.

Thanx maximax.. Actually I am bit lazy person. I would prefer spects after reading such a long process for cleaning contact lenses.. What if I forget to remove them? Will it affect the eyes?

I think that this all depends on your comfort and perception of appearance to others. Contact lenses are invisible to those around you but they are not always comforting to your eye. Spectacles are very noticeable. Some people are not eager to share their sight problems. It all depends on the type of person that you are.

I am extremely nearsighted and astigmatic. Started wearing glasses when I was 8 and contacts at 16 and that was 45 years ago. I wear disposable extended-wear contact lenses. Never take them out. Never have to care for them. When I'm ready for a new pair, I toss the old ones and put in a new pair. Extended-wear lens are designed to be worn 24/7 and from 1 week to 1 month, although I have worn mine for months. (I am NOT recommending you wear them for months and my eye doctor would certainly have a heart attack if she knew I did it.) Anyway, I never clean them. When they get too dirty to see, I throw them out. Can't beat that for convenience.

Hi. Why you didn't post this under interest 'life'? Nevermind.. My friend use lenses. And she gets real irritated when she uses it for nearly equal to even 8 hours. And i use specs. I am comfortable with it. I hardly take care of my specs. But that's not the case for lenses.. And if you start wearing lenses, no one will call you 'scholar' as it is a popular tag given to people/students who wear specs. Lol. I hope you are aware of it.

spects are undoubtedly the comfortable than contact lens. because we can wear the spects whenever we want according to our convience. but contact lenses have to be changes regularly, if dust accumulates in our eyes it irritates us. so i would say spects are always the best

That true. But sometimes it is impossible for me to handle my spects in a heavily crowded train. Still I will continue using spects as it is far more comfortable than the maintanence of contact lenses

I think it is better to use the spectacles because it is safer. It is also convenient because you don't need to wash the contact lenses. If you don't wash the contact lenses well, your eyes will be infected.

Hi, As you ahve to travel by crowded train that time lenses are preferable but you have to take care of your lenses. If you feel more comfortable with your spectacles then you use spectacles. Both the lenses and spectacles has advantages and disadvantages. thank you for the response.

Thanx Nandita for your valuable suggestion. I will surely keep this in mind. Especially about that special glasses. One cant use lenses continuously as especially those who can hardly see anything. Like me. Lol.

According to your question, contact lenses are more convenient. But it has many adverse effects like you cant go near any hot object or else your eyes can get damaged.

Thanx Mayank. I know it has many adverse effects. So get confused between both of them.
