i never knew what is a spinach. i just heard this vegetable in a comic show "Popeye," right?! until one day, i saw a plant that is not familiar to me; so i asked, what is that plant. someone answered that it is a vegetable plant. so i said; ewww! what kind of plant is that. she said; it is a spinach. so i answered back - really, it is really a spinach? wow! yes, it is - my friend answered me one more time again. but i thought i cannot eat this plant and the taste of it is yucky. until i came to realized that, i have eaten this kind of vegetable as it is being on the top of the vegetable pizza, i so remember. and my mother planted this type in the her garden. so sometimes, when we are cooking vegetable dish, we include this from our garden. this is a very delicious food. i had been encouraged to eat this because my sister told me it is really delicious and nutritious. so i tried eating it and hmmm - not bad. it is still tolerable to my taste buds. so what about u, have you tried eaten this kind of vegetable "the spinach?"

We do eat spinach often. However, we mostly eat it raw in salads, not cooked. Spinach us a great addition to the lettuce in your salads and its rich in vitamins and minerals. It's a great addition to your diet.

Popeye the Sailor man have great super power and strength after taking a can of spinach. I love to eat spinach. My mum loves to eat them too. However, we hardly cook spinach at home because my husband cannot eat too much spinach as he have gout - it seems not so suitable. Spinach is very delicious and nutritious too! You can add some anchovies or egg to it. The gravy will turns out great when eat with rice.

hi there missjahn, honestly speaking i am not aware how spinach looks like. all i know when that cartoon "Popeye" was eating that food, he will just get a can and open it. hence the spinach was inside the can and preserved. what made me think to eat it was, an idea formulated in my mind that if you take and eat this vegetable, you will be stronger as what Popeye was experiencing. so this thought push me to eat this vegetable. since then, i have loved the taste and i even cooked it by means of blanch then i put some garlic on for the dressing. the taste was great and i even keep on doing that food again and again.

spinach - this is the spinach my mother used to plant in his garden. i should try to plant this vegetable more and should try to eat this more often.
i do not see this vegetable in a can or canned goods consisting this kind. our neighbor has plenty of this plant which i was curious about when i saw this. and i do not know my mother, why she became interested to plant this one. she was excited to tell me what kind of vegetable she planted. but i really doubt and refuse to believe. my sister loves this food very much and encourages us to have some because she said it is delicious. not really fond of eating this stuff, you know because it is new to my taste buds. but maybe, i should eat this more often. i want to attach the fresh plant picture planted in my mother's garden.

gosh, really! when i was a kid, i do not like eating vegetables. i do not remember that there is a specific vegetable that i would like to eat. i so remember that when my mother fed me, i spitted the food from my mouth and cleverly wrapped it into my hands and threw it into the floor. that vegetable is carbansos. i guess it is just normal or generally, kids do not like to eat vegetables. but there are some that do like eating it. so this spinach, i tried this one and not so bad. so thanks for joining here :)

Hello miahn. I have eaten spinach most of my life. When it is cooked most of my family like to put butter and a little bit of vinegar on it. It goes very well in salad and can replace lettuces in sandwiches. I make a snack with spinach balls with eggs, bread crumbs, and Parmesan cheese Spinach is at the top of the vegetable list for nutrition.

missjahn you can add spinach leaves to raw salads or cook some bacon then add the spinach and cook it just a little for wilted spinach. Here is a spinach ball recipe too. Just be sure to squeeze out as much liquid out as possible http://www.food.com/recipe/spinach-balls-325335

we also eat it along with rice as our viand. rice is the staple food for the filipinos with dishes along. it is very nice. i never regretted why i tried eating this food. but before i already eaten this on the pizza top, i just did not recognized that it was a spinach. taste good!

I like spinach, especially raw in salads. It is also good in Indian curries. Sag ghosh is lamb with spinach. Sag is the Hindi word for the kind of spinach we eat in the west. They have another kind of spinach which they call palak. This has a thicker leaf with a stronger flavor. In the west, meals containing palak are more expensive than those containing sag, as palak has to be imported. Spinach has a bad reputation because it is so easily overcooked, and then it goes mushy and is full of water, which tends to seep out onto your plate. You should either steam spinach or just wash the leaves and put it straight in the pan - don't add more water - the water that clings to the leaves is enough. Just cook it in a pan with a lid for a few minutes. It's good when added to a soup or casserole - but add it near the end of cooking.

I love spinach and that is exactly how my parents got me to eat it when I was younger, by referencing popeye. I always had it in canned form until last summer when I found a recipe for a strawberry spinach salad so I went to the local farmers market and got strawberries and spinach and it was delicious. My boyfriend loved it too!

wow, that strawberry spinach is a total strange to my hearing. i wonder how does it taste. but sad to say that we do not have canned spinach vegetable sold in the stores anywhere in our place and no strawberry at all. strawberry grows to cold places and that plant is not suitable to the climate we have in our place. thanks for joining :)

I have cetainly eaten spinach. I like it very much and it is quite versatile. Lately though, I am eating more swiss chard or kale as it tastes the same and I can grow chard and kale in my own garden so it`s free. I eat it raw, in soups, creams, mixed with homemade gnocchi, you name it. It`s very nutricious and yummy.

Popeye ia a cartoon that began on 1929, a lot before you or even I came into this world. Taste buds change from culture to culture. And for me spinach is delicious in cresams, soups, puddings and raw in salads. It is a versalile veggie that can add a zest to many dishes. I suggest you start eating it mixed with other veggies you know and like.

Spinach was a vegetable that my parents fed to my siblings and myself when I was a young child but most of the time when I ate spinach when I was growing up it was something that we usually ate stewed. However now that I'm grown, I also feed my family spinach on a regular basis. I have found that I not only like spinach the way that my parents fed it to us when I was a child, we will also have spinach in some pasta and Mexican dishes that I make and we also like to have fresh spinach in salads at our house.

That's why don't say "ewww" before you try; you might end up liking it... Just like when others say someone likes you then your response is "ewww, no way!"; they say chances are you'll end up with that person for the rest of your life... We can't avoid our own fate, if you know what I mean...

Spinach is Popeye's energy food. As spinach contains iron it helps those who have low blood pressure. We know that iron is needed to form haemoglobin which carries oxygen to our body cells. When iron content in our body is low we have low haemoglobin, thereby less oxygen is carried to our body cells. This resulted in low energy and we become weak and lethargic. This is why Popeye takes spinach to boost his oxygen content to his body cells, resulting in being energized. Cheers!
