Another pound lost! I wish it was more and so does my doctor. She actually made me feel really bad yesterday. She would like me to be losing at least 2 lb.s a week and the last few I have done a pound each. She gave me what I think she thought as a pep talk but really it just made me rebellious. She talked as though I am not trying hard enough and obviously eating more then what I am marking in my journal. Thing is I have been working hard, eating what I am supposed to and minus a a two day break from working out I exercised every day. I did have two days as I said that I didn't work out but I was doing yard work all weekend and took the hours of gardening, trimming, digging and hauling of brush as enough physical activity for those days. Not to mention the trainer at the gym says I should have a couple days off a week (not in a row) to let my body relax or all the exercise will backfire later on down the road. I won't quit but if I wasn't so determined I would have told her to F off and walked away right then and there.

I guess she is using that ''old school'' method of telling you you are not doing good enough, in order to motivate you to do better and prove her wrong. Thats bull, if you ask me... Same thing when you work for someone and he is that type of person to always tell you how its not good enough in order to push you to do better. I guess with some people this method works. Personally im the opposite, encourage me and i will do a 1000 times better than if you put me down and kill every piece of motivation i have. As far as losing weight, you got ''fat loss'' and you got ''muscle loss'' (And water loss but that fluctuates and its normal, if one tried to lose water weight by not drinking water and sweating alot, they would get sick eventually) So fat and muscle weight loss are two differend things. Weight loss is achieved by decreasing energy intake and increasing energy expense, long-term. Drink Tea, go vegan or vegetarian... Im sure your doctor has a degree on her wall, cant miss with degree, my regards to your bank account...

I drink a lot of water! I actually have been doing the half your body weight in water ounces. I did it once before years ago and it worked ok, in the least it made me less hungry if nothing else. I don't think I can go vegan, I really just like my meat though I have cut a lot of carbs out.

Oh I so know what you mean! We are lucky in the fact that we live near many Amish and their butchers are great not to mention as they do not believe in using all the "additives" so we know there is nothing gross in our meats..lol My husband and daughter also hunt so we have some organic completely free range venison, rabbit and turkey! Not to mention the venison is very lean.

ohhhh how could i forget the most important thing, Drink Water :D Numero Uno thing to do... The common trend/conventional wisdom of ''8 glasses a day'' that most people say, is simply not true. A 300 pound athlete certainly needs more water than a 100pound little girl. So try to keep it Half of your body weight in Ounces. For example a person that weights 300 Pounds should be drinking on average around 150 Ounces of water daily. And then take into account how Active that person is and heat/sun exposure. Its not an exact science, but you have on-line calculators that can calculate how much water you would need based on your daily routine and activities...im sure there are :)

So the doctor doesn't have a very good repore. I think the less you lose the better cause it will stay off longer. It is very hard for older woman to lose weight. I am on medication that makes it doubly hard. I finally have just given up. Maybe you need to incorporate more fruit like grapefruit and pineapple in your diet. Things that help burn off calories. Do you like hot peppers? My daughter likes the peprochini ones that are more mild but tasty. They are supposed to help. Good to be determined and just have to try different foods to see which help you burn it faster. Lots of water is always good too. Helps flush out toxins from the body. Don't eat salt! Hope you are able to get where you need or want to be.

I think it helps to keep your metabolism going. Good. There has to be something you can eat that helps with the diet. I wish I knew what type body type your were.

I don't know how old you are but i have heard that the older you get the harder it is to lose weight. Also some people just have a slow metabolism and it is hard for them to lose weight at any age. The nurse or doctor who saw you should know this. I have heard losing a pound a week is very good and how it should be done not to lose too much weight too fast. Now i'm not a nurse doctor or weight loss expert but i do know it can take time to lose weight. Sometimes even you can hit what they call a platue(if that's how you spell it lol) and stay the same weight for days or weeks at a time before losing more. I'm trying to lose weight and have been ay the same weight for weeks now but slowly losing more. It just takes hard work and dedication to lose the weight. I do not know why the nurse or doctor told you you should be losing 2 pounds a week and are eating more than you say you are because as a nurse or doctor they should know it takes time to lose weight and some people have slow metabolisms which make them lose it even slower or they can stay the same weight for days or weeks at a time. I'm sorry the nurse upset you. Congrats on the weight you did lose and good luck losing the rest.

Thank you. They had given me a goal of two pounds a week and didn't meet it. I have had food issues my whole life and the ways I dealt with them when younger (the ways my mother dealt with them when I was younger) has left my body in an abused state. It takes me a long time to lose weight. I actually began Weight Watcher's to get off the plateau I had been hovering on for moths..lol I think this doctor has a reputation to uphold as the whole system (they are the doctor's, hospital and insurance) put out adds about how they can help you lose weight. They push for surgeries and lap bands but I do not want to do those or pills and I sorta feel like that annoys them.

Not happy with how you were treated. a pound a week is excellent. I am not sure what the doctor is trying to do, reverse psychology? I don't like that attitude. losing a pound shows that you are, indeed, making progress. Just make sure that the rebel in you does not grab a slice of pie, and you shall be fine :) I have faith in you and you are doing really well I think!

I am doing OK. Was sick again and back on steroids., Just happy I haven't put anything on. They where not happy with my not losing but when on both an oral steroid and inhaler version not gaining is an accomplishment.

Weight loss is a tough process and losing 2lb in a week is tougher. When some one starts the process , first few days are easy to lose and the result shows up early but as the days progress things become really difficult and that is the time most of the people give up. If one can pull through that situation he or she is definitely reach there.

It's hard work trying to lose weight, I have been on a up and down, scale myself and it's not easy losing weight you, have to really put your self into it, and I haven't been into it, I have been so tired lately, my iron is so low, that is why I have no energy, to do much of anything it make me tired to walk.

I have been taking mineral and vitamin supplements as well as Green tea and cinnamon to help get things going. I have no clue if they are helping or not though

SHE (Dr.) of all blooming people should KNOW that there are hills, valleys....and PLATEAU'S..especially Plateaus, when dieting! And SHE of all bloomin' people, should take a lesson in physcology..and KNOW this is the time the dieter needs the most encouragement! Badly worded PEP talks can spiral some-one into discouragement and depression. I know you are using her as a benchmark..but I really think if she can't be YOUR BIGGEST Cheerleader, you need to find someone else to cheer you along the way! My best, in your endeavours, PLEASE try not to get discouraged!
