Yep Target stupid a@#'s fired me. And one other associate the girl that I started with. Sorry guys this is a vent and if you don't want to read it then move on cause its going to be long.
Yeah so I go into work today, I'm working my butt off making sure things get done. Then so I see my team lead come in he's all smiles saying good morning. Yeah so I say good morning he's all in a cheery mood. Anyway he was like you'll be getting an evaluation today. Oh that's wonderful. Can't wait. He just seemed way too happy. So I figured, well, looks like my eval is going to be good. He's all smiles and stuff.
So anyways I continue working. Then he comes looking for my co-worker and he takes her to the back. And then before I know it like 10 minutes later I see her come walking out and she has her stuff. I'm like uh oh this isn't good. So while I'm working I'm like ok what is happening. I have a bad feeling so I wait and I wait. I figured I better slow down on my work cause I don't know what is happening. Anyways, he later comes for me and takes me to the back and takes me to a room and we sit and he's still happy. I'm like ok why is this guy so happy and then his face changes. (I guess he didn't get the memo.) Anyways, he tells me all the great points that I've been doing like oh you're so friendly and you are always here on time you're always here for work, I meet the goals and everything. (I guess he's trying to sugar coat it before he fires me.) Ha ha just tell me already I'm thinking. Anyways, then the bad stuff comes up and the whole time the stupid b--tch that no one likes is in there the whole time. And everything that he said I did good, now he's telling me I did bad plus on top of that I don't have good customer service, I never stop to help the customers, lol and none of the target team members know me and know I'm price accuracy lol. Everyone knows me dude what the hell you talking about. I always greet my team members I always help every customer that ask me and I even stop what I am doing to ask someone if they need help. I even chased a customer down who walked off pissed cause she thought we didn't have the product. I chased her down cause I found the product and thought she should have it and lucky her, it was the last one. The customer was still upset, but hey I still helped her. Customer's are even glad that I stop what I'm doing walk them to wherever they need to go for whatever they need. And they appreciate that. I'm always available when they needed help in other departments. When they asked. But yet he says I was never available. I don't know how many times after they fixed my pin for me to do register that I have gone and helped out. These are bullcrap reasons, I think they just wanted to find anything to fire me. Like really those are your reasons. These people are idiots. I'm like you know what thank you for firing me I will never go and work for them idiots again. I had it way better at Wal Mart. Omg I can't believe I said that. I left an awesome job at wal mart for a stupid job at target. I'm an idiot.
Anyways, now if I want to go back to wal mart I have to wait 3 more months and I if I don't have a job by then I will apply again. Never again will I come to target. Thanks guys for the bad experience of working at Target. I appreciate it. Oh and they gave me supposedly my last check in the form of cash. Weird, but yeah got my last check already. What is this a bribe or to make me feel better after you fired me. Lol. I hope the whole store falls apart. Because it won't get any better.
Okay vent done. For all who made it to the end thanks for listening.

It is not your fault that the Target shop fired you. It seems that the man was pretending to be happy and in an upbeat mood. He was sugar coating his words saying all your pluses working there then he evilly said untrue things about you. They made up stuff so they could fire you. It seems weird to me and they don't seem to be an excellent place to work. It is a shame you would have to wait three months before you could go back to Wal Mart. Good luck getting another job which you will enjoy and be happy in.

Yes, I hope that I find another job that I can enjoy and actually that people will enjoy having me work with them and not come up with excuses to fire me. I'd rather if someone is going to give me bad news especially when you are going to fire me, I don't like to have it sugar coated. I rather they just out right tell me that they are going to fire me. I lost complete disrespect for him after he did that.

I'm sorry you lost your job. And I think it was wrong for them to just make stuff up to fire you. If they had good reasons that is one thing but to make stuff up, that is so wrong!
My sister got fired recently-but at least with her it was a good reason. She told another employee that if she saw her boss in a parking lot she would run her over, reverse and run her over again! Lol. So, the girl my sister told this to went and told the boss so my sister got fired. (My sister speaks her mind always).
With you, it all sounds like crap reasons... I really hope you find a new job soon! And I hope its a better job than the one you had at target.
I wish I could go back to my last job because I loved it there but they shut down. It was a small company, I was the secretary there. I loved my job and never wanted to leave but they went under. =( I will never work for another big company though again because the way I was treated at my last job compared to bigger companies was like night and day. The difference is unbelievable! My last job understood that I had a family and they came first, they did not mind if I had to leave early for a doctors appointment, the one time I called out they didn't even ask for a doctors note because I worked there for a year and called out one time because I had one of my seizures, they were so nice, they were like a family-all of us were part of their family, etc. I loved that place! I recommend to everyone now if you can find a small company to work for, do it.

Thank you and I could completely understand if I had done anything wrong. But I haven't and the team lead was even ensuring me that I was doing good. I will have to start looking into those small companies as well. I may have a better shot at working in something like that. I pretty much am just going to put out my applications everywhere and plus my friend told me of a website that I could possible apply at that I could do work from home. Like customer service jobs, so I'm even looking into stuff like that.

Times must be bad at your place and I hope that you have been rightfully compensated. If not, please take it up with the authorities.
Also, I am wondering if you are being wrongfully dismissed - I hope you calm down and rethink for a while here, because if you are and have proof then I think you should speak up with the head office. No one has the right to take matters into their own hands including your store manager.
I do not know the reason behind the need to wait 3 months before you can reapply at Walmart but I suggest you apply just the same since jobs aren't easy to come by.

You may want to check with your superior at Target who is responsible for your appraisal and the terms stated in your letter of appointment to see if you are a victim of wrongful dismissal.
If you cannot find any answers then you may need to approach legal advice via legal aid or your own commercial lawyer to help you out. The dismissal does seem to have irregularities and I feel these dismissals are personal than official. I hope you have kept all written documents related to this dismissal.

That's what my hubby said to just go ahead and apply again. I don't know I thought you had to wait 6 months or something like that before applying again. And I quit like 3 months ago so I have 3 months left I think. But I'll go ahead and put the application in anyways and see what happens. I left on good terms and hopefully they see that.
My husband is starting to think that they wrongfully terminated me or something or they screwed me over. He was even surprised that they gave me my last check in cash. He was like how do I know they gave me all the money. So I have to look into that too.

OUCH!!! That sucks. Sorry it had to end like that. That alone would not make me want to do business with a place if I was treated liked that. I was let go from a job almost in the same fashion. I won't name the place, but I have not been back in there since that episode. I try not to think about it because I can just feel the knives being stuck in my back whenever someone mentions them. I'm quite sure you will get back on your feet, and forget about those people. Good luck.

I'm hoping to get back on my feet real soon. So I know that we will be okay. And I have my few work at home jobs to hold me over until something comes along. But ever since I got treated the way I did, I'm like I never want to hear the name target again. But now I think I will just never walk into that store again, or at least the one that I worked in the people there just seemed so fake.

Hello,
Discussion was very long, but I read it till end. First of all sad to hear that you loose your job. Hmm I think that they just loose a very good worker. And not you are dumb, but they are. Boss will always find reasons to fire their workers if they will want it. You know that saying: Jobs are coming and going. So you will find new job soon.

I do hope I find a job soon I really enjoyed getting out of the house and working and basically just working period and you are correct they just lost a good worker and I don't deserve to work with a company who treats me this way and fires me for no good reason and sad that they had to come up with something to let me go.

I know I can't believe I said I had it better at Wal Mart. But its true and I wish I had stayed. I can't believe I said that either. But I'll be searching for work. I left on good terms with them so I know I shouldn't have any problems hopefully with them hiring me back. Isn't there a waiting period to get back on with them? I'm thinking there is and I think I may have 3 more months before I can apply again. So until then I'm searching for work elsewhere. I hope I don't have to resort to going back to wal mart, but I will if I have to.

Cash just to save them paper work I suppose. That is a shame but you have had this experience and can move on. Maybe you should chose another profession. Something more suited to your attributes. Sales and such seem hard to me anyway. And with the right to work law in most states you don't have a prayer cause they can fire you for anything they choose. Better luck elsewhere!

Is your husband's company one that lets married couples work at the same place. Some companies won't. Maybe the cash business is to that letting you folks go won't look bad on the managements record. Know what I mean? I don't think they are running their company very effectively. It costs money to hire and fire. If they are behind it would be smarter to add people not fire people. But you are out of there now and I hope you find something better.

Yeah his company allowed married couples to work in the same place. But we'll be in different departments and stuff. I think it would be more of a problem if he was management or something or if we were going to be working in the same department, but we'll be in different departments and they know I'm his wife and she said tell her to come on in.
Right now this job I like about is the pay right now and the work is easy so far from what I heard. So I told him I'd try it out and see how it goes.

Yeah I think I will be trying something different. There is actually an opening at my husband's company that he works at. And its in one of the easiest sections in the company. So I will be giving that a shot and this is just something temporary for me cause I want to go to school and make a career. So I will see how it goes. I have an interview on Monday with them and hopefully get to start Friday. That's when they start all the new hires.
But yeah either they were trying to save paper or I don't know what they were doing, but it was weird for me to receive my last check in cash.
That is true about they can fire you whatever, it just sucks that they can say whatever they want and even if it isn't true, and can just fire you.

the cash payout is VERY fishy to me
I can't think of a legitimate reason why they did that
I don't know about labor laws in the States but if you work over three months in Canada, they have to give you written warning before teminating you for 'just cause'
if you were within that probationary period you may be out of options but if you were there beyond it, I'd be asking some questions

I'm so sorry that you lost your job. I thankfully never lost a job but I have seen it throughout my career of people being laid off left and right. It is a very scary thing to go through or to witness. I remember going to work on a Friday and how many people would be called into the bosses office and be let go due to budget cuts or so they said. I hated Friday's for that reason alone. I hope you will be able to get your job back at WalMart and if I were you I would never shop at Target again. Well I'm sure you won't. Good luck to you!

Before this job I've never lost a job anywhere. I've always quit. And the sad thing was that I like this job. I don't think I'll be shopping there any more you're right I plan to shop right back at Wal Mart. I can't believe I said that, but Wal Mart will be getting my business now and hopefully after 3 months I can get back on with them if someone hasn't hired me yet.

So sorry to hear they treated you that way. I hope that you will be able to get a job at walmart again. It would be awful to work for people like that who just want to fire people for no good reason. You are definitely better off somewhere else.

I understand what you feel. I hate when employers wanna fire people for personal reasons or finance reasons, and they came up with fake and lousy excuses and tell about all your non.-existent wroingdoings, because they don't wanna seem evil... but don't they think their employees are not stupid? It's even worse reputation.
My boyfriend worked as a data-entry person, and they kicked him and some people with him out, even though he did an excellent job, saying that the material to be typed into the system got to the end... whih wasn't true, they just hired epeople with disablities, because of a new law that they have to pay lower taxes if they employ diabled people... that is just unethical.

That's ridiculous reason about your boyfriend and that is just messed up that they fired him and then hired more people to do the job that he was so good at.
I wonder what they're real reason was for firing us cause they're reasons made no sense at all. They must have thought we were stupid. But nope they aren't dealing with a stupid girl here. I guess they figured I'd never catch on. Its alright they're idiots for firing me and its just gonna get worse. They'll have to hire more people and it'll be the same all over again. I can't wait to see how they fall for firing such great workers. If they do plan on hiring some other people.

Yeah as you said, he was just trying to be nice to you before firing you. Lol. He was being happy just to fake. Who knows. Sometimes people just want reasons to find something bad in others, and they don't care even if those reasons are wrong. Argh!
Glad that at least you got your last pay in cash. Lucky you. Lol. I hope you are happy considering how bad that job was as compared to your Wal Mart. I hope you will get another job soon. Take care. Thanks for sharing :)

Wow!! Last check in cash? Interesting, and to me not good practice. They must have had to cut people due to budget more than what your service was. But I would be mad too. Reminds me of when I worked for Fry's Electronics and one of the reasons I have a hard time ever going back in there. Mine was issues due to me being diabetic and thinking I could not perform and I just was thinking I hope one of these days it is not them dealing with issues like this and trying to work.

okay second time copy wow its never easy getting fired no matter how they phrase it. when i was fired for simply being almost eighty she kept telling me how hard this was that she did not want to do this
but she ended up I have to let you blah blah go.She lost her job because library headquarters said that you cannot fire someone simply because of their age. so they asked me to come back but I had had a fall, broke my shoulder, had surgery and was no longer able to shelve media.I hope that you can find a much better job soon or that you get to work at Walmart again. good luck and God bless.

That is crazy that they let you go because of your age. And yeah they are right that they can't let you go because of your age. It sucks that you could not go back though. I'm hoping that I can find a much better job or just get back on at Wal Mart. Its sad to say because how I was treated at Wal Mart, they treated me way better then this and I'd rather deal with the few things that I dealt with while working at Wal Mart then ever working at Target again.

You can take this as an opportunity to change your path and pursue something else that is more your passion. I believe that you had said something before about continuing your education?
There are a lot more opportunities out there. Even if the job market is still on the tight side, there are still opportunities if you are unafraid to forge your own path.

Wow, it really does sound to me like your supervisor was talking out of both sides of his mouth. How can he possibly say on the one hand that you are so friendly and then on the other hand say that the team members don't know you and that you are not available for customers, those are both parts of being friendly in my opinion.
That said, if you are working at a place where you are not appreciated, I know that it really does hurt to lose your job, but you are probably a lot better off without that stinking job.

Wow,, what a day. Well may be it's better for you to not continue with them It sounds like they have different performance assessment standards because they are working on target. That is why I never want to apply for a job that work on target even though they say they will pay me good money.
I hope you can find temporary or may be better permanent job sooner. All the best, and keep the spirit
