What was your favorite vacation? Where do you want to vacation at?

I have been thinking about what places that I would like to travel to. I have also been reflecting on some of my best vacations. I have never had the money to truly travel to where I would like to go, nor did my parents have money to take us to many great places growing up.
As a child my favorite vacation memory was our trip to Walt Disney World in Florida. We were there for a week, and I got to visit all of the Disney parks. I was only 10 at the time and they were still building the safari park. I absolutely loved it there. My older sisters took me and my brother (they are 13 and 20 yrs older than me). My parents didn't go. We had a blast. We got to go to the beach and swim in the ocean (my first and only time doing so). We also enjoyed Disney World as any child would.
As I got older my vacations were all in surrounding states. I have been to various spots in my home state Ohio. I have been to all the bigger cities in Ohio. I have been to a few places in Michigan, I have been to Indianapolis Indiana (my sister was in the military and was based there and we would visit). I have also been to Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. Pittsburgh was my most recent trip. We went there to visit my boyfriends family. We really enjoyed it. We plan on going back in June. I was not used to all of the hills. There are tons of hills in southern Ohio, but where I live we hardly have any. As I have been older my vacations have been fun, but I don't think any of them compare to my trip to Florida.
My boyfriend and I have planned a trip to California that we plan on taking in 2 years. We were debating between it and another trip to Disney World, but since we have both been there before we wanted some place different. We have a son that will be going with us, but we want him to be older when we finally decide to take him to Disney World, so he is old enough to remember it.
I originally wanted to do a trip to Scotland, but it's a lot cheaper to travel within my own country, and we just wont have the funds to go to another country. The places I would love to visit most are Scotland, Ireland, and England. I don't foresee that happening anytime soon. Hopefully in the future we will be able to travel abroad. So my question here is how about everyone else? What are your favorite vacation memories? Where would you most like to visit? Where have you visited and did you enjoy it? I would love to hear peoples stories. I don't get to travel like I would like to, so it's always interesting to hear from other people.

When I was growing up I remember going to San Antonio, Mississippi, Colorado and Galveston. After I got married we have been to Disney World several times. In fact we have been there 4 times and have been to Disneyland in California 3 times. My favorite vacation is Disney World. I have also been on 2 cruises. One to Alaska and another to Mexico. I loved the cruises.

I loved Disney World when I went as a kid. It truly is like a magical experience. I'm hoping to take my son when he is a little older. I have never been to Disneyland. I have been told Disney World is better, but I have never been to Disneyland to compare. I am not sure I would want to go on a cruise now after everything has been happening on the cruise ships. I used to want to go on a cruise, but after all the recent events I think I'll pass for now. At least until I know the cruise companies have their stuff together.

Disney World was just building the safari park when I went. I was 10 when I went so it has been 16 yrs since I was there. I wish I had the money to go. I am going to probably go to California on my next vacation. I want my son to actually have memories of his first trip to Disney World. So I want to wait a little longer before I take him. The awesome thing about Disney World is there is a ton of stuff to do for everyone. I have been to all the parks at Disney World except obviously one that wasn't finished when I was there. The hopper pass is worth the money, but it's one of those places you're going to want to spend more than just one day so you can actually enjoy all of the parks.

Yes Disney World is better since it has 4 parks plus the 2 water parks while Disneyland only has 2 parks. But it has been over 15 years the last time I was at Dsneyland and it was before they built the second park so I would love to go back to see it. I have been to Disneyworld 2 times in the last 5 years.

I don't have long vactions mainly because of the leave approval problems. Mostly held up with work and busy office work is the main issue and it is difficult to get done everything smoothly.
Though I like travelling and vacations, it won't last for morethan a week or 10 days. I got a dream to visit Switzerland, but for sure it is just a dream and will not take place in my life time. I have visited many places in my home country (India) and never been anywhere abroad. As being settled with the family, now the expenses are too much to have a large vacations and moving around with others.
It is my new thought that visit different places alone and I like to travel single as I can use the full freedom as and how I like. Whenever I get some excess money and 5-6 days leave, I will plan it and I think it will work. As I like photography and video shooting, I will select best places where I can enjoy the nature fully.

Time is also another issue for most people when planning a vacation. Most people have a hard time getting time off of work. I think a lot of people have that dream to visit a place that they will probably never get to visit. I hope to eventually be able to see at least one of the countries on the list of countries I would most like to visit. I have only traveled within my own country as well, but I have a big country so there is still a lot more of my country to explore. The USA has 50 states and I have only been to 5 of them. Hopefully you get to go on a great vacation soon.

I am tired of travelling within my own backyard and the neighbors backyard too. (USA) I think my next trip will be the French Polynesian (Bora Bora), St. Lucia, or Cat Island. Someplace tropical!

I would love to travel outside of the country. It's just not a possibility for me right now. So I will settle with just traveling within the country. A lot of states are over looked when traveling, because they don't seem like they have much, but often times are worth checking out. I actually have enjoyed the places I have traveled in my own state. I have some state pride, even though I have never heard of anyone truly wanting to travel here lol. I would just love to be able to travel somewhere different. I guess I'll take what I can afford for now.

I've been to some really nice placeswith my family, Egypt, Italy, Greece... my favorite of them was when we went to island Spinalonga in Greece, because I loved the story of an island, and I've just read a book about it (it was a semi-fictional novel), so I could imagine the life there. It was an island for people suffering from lepers, btw.
But if I really had to be honest about my fave vacation, it was my first parent-less holiday, when we went to our local country lakeside with my boyfriend, into their apartment. It was our first vacation together, and it was really orecious!

That sounds fun. That's some interesting information. I wasn't aware of the island let alone that it was for lepers. I think that the first vacation with out your parents just signals your being independent and it means more. I haven't really been on a vacation without family of some kind. My family likes to all go in together and go some place. It saves money. I think my last trip was the first trip I have been on without MY family. We were visiting my boyfriends family. We took a greyhound bus to Pittsburgh. It was just me, my boyfriend, and our son on the bus, but we stayed with his family when we got there. Our future trip to California will probably be our first without some form of family.

My family and I go to Chicago every summer, and I am really tired, of going to Chicago to visit my sister every summer, and it is really dangerous there now, I live in Virginia and I will be staying home, this summer and will be planning, a vacation with my grandDaughter, right here, I will be take her to the zoo, and to other places, we have here for children, going on vacation now is too Exspensive now, so staying home this summer, is what I am going to do this summer.

I imagine if you always go to the same place it gets tiring. Any bigger city is going to be dangerous anymore. Going on vacation is expensive, which is why I don't go very often. I haven't been on a really big vacation in a long time. I love traveling though when I have the money. There isn't much where I live for kids though. I live in primarily in a college town. We take my son to places in one of the cities close by though. We live about 45 minutes north from a place called Toledo and about 45 minutes south called Findlay. They both offer a little more than what my city does. Just wish they offered a little more than what they do. I usually just take my son to the park or occasionally they have festivals and events around here I take him to.
