Gay For A Day....

As we stumble through the 21st Century and we all pretend to strive for equality... WHAT!!
We tend to have an overload of Idioms and sayings to help us adjust to everything...
"Don’t judge a man until you have walked a mile in his shoes"
"Do not judge, or you too will be judged"
"We must learn to live together as brothers or perish together as fools"
Now all these sayings attempt to teach us to be accepting of others... Doesn't always work.
We need an update...
And I have one...
"Gay For A Day"
What I like about this is that it is not just a FABULOUS! addition to the above sanctimonious drivel.
What is good about my "Gay For A Day" is that it can also be a movement.
Spend a day as a GAY BLOKE or a LESBIAN - How SUPER! will that be?
Gay and Lesbian folk can also live life as a straight person.
I think that is better than wearing someone elses shoes

I really don't think any of us need to be gay for a day or straight for a day. I think we all need to realize that we are all individuals and that we need to live our lives according to the golden rule. The golden rule to me is: do unto others as you would have done unto you.
Regardless of whether you are straight, gay, bi, or whatever, you need to treat others as you want to be treated and don't push your views on any matter to anyone else.
Oh, yes you can discuss them and learn about each other that is how we learn, however do not insist that we follow your views. Just let us learn and be open minded to learn.

I'm not really sure what you mean by that "I had my tongue in my cheek" or "As response to the nonsense that is use to sound empathic".
What is the world are you talking about????
Evidently I've been living under a rock all my 50+ yrs on this planet, you're response makes no sense to me whatsoever.

Ah yes - the days when gay meant happy.
I do remember learning to read and gay was a common word in children's books

I think Peter and Jane may have featured gay to mean happy.
Sherlock Holmes is also the same - hundreds of books from the Early 1900's up to the 50's and 60's are like that

I consider myself to be fairly unbiased, but I would be totally unable to do that. I have a few gay friends and they are certainly no different than anyone else, but it would be a different matter for me to actually experience such a thing.

i wouldn't be able spend a day as a gay person, because i am straight. it wouldn't feel like a natural thing to me.

It was not a genuine call...
It would be crass of me to think that living as a gay for a day would actually give us an understanding of what it is like to gay.
Also I would not expect anyone to do soemthing they didn't want to.

A day? No we all need at least a year. What if everyone of us got changed into
what we fear the most. Of course if you believe in Karma, and more than one life
then this is what happens. Somehow I don't think it's working to well, it's just to slow. Our most highest power must have a different time table then his creations.

I have all the respect in the world for individuals that are homosexual so the reason that I'm saying that I would not be able to do this is not because I am homophobic, instead the reason that I'm saying that this would not be something that I would be able to do is because of the fact that I actually think that pretending to be homosexual would be something that would be seen as offensive by the LGBT community.
In addition to that, I'm not an actress so it wouldn't be possible for me to pretend that I have feelings that I don't have.

It's basically swapping lives. Nice. It does not have to stop at being gay for a day either. It could be anything. Like a cop would have to be the criminal and the criminal the cop. The world would surely go nuts and be turned upside down. But I love the concept.
