Are Vegetarians Lesser Beings?

We here that Non-veg foods are packed with proteins needed for health and body building. The iron present in such a food is readily absorbed by the body because it comes from a similar tissue than that supplied by a plant tissue.
Leaving aside the nutrition facts, Non-veg food is usually considered a macho substance. And the ones not consuming them are looked upon as girly.
Of course, I'm generalizing and forgive me for that. But talking about my country (India) and my culture, where consuming alcohol and non-veg go hand in hand, the above stated fact is very much relevant.
Now, is that fair? Are veggies doing anything wrong by not killing an innocent life for their food?

I don`t know where in India do you live, but although I know little about Indian cooking, I understand that the ayuvedic food, that has its roots in religious and healing priciples, are mainly vegetarian. I have never heard of people that say that vegetarian foods are "girlish". I do think though that it is easier to get the necesary essential aminoacids if you eat some animal protein. But even that is not a must. If you mix the right amount of legumes and nuts, probably there`s no need to eat meat.

How are grown things exempt from being killed? They breath in their own way, pull them out of the ground, away from their life support and they die. If you dont' feed the veges, they will die, if you abuse them they will die.
But whatever, all I know is that I have never seen a healthy looking vegetarian. They all look pale, thin, weak, non energetic and act ready for a nap. No offense to anyone, but from what I have seen, that is all I have seen. And that is all I can go on.

I can't say I totally survive on grass and twigs, I do eat meat a couple times a week but only during the day.
I don't look at it as being a lesser person, more over I'm more conscience about my health. As I've gotten older have to consider my family blood lines and health issues that pass down from generation to generation, cholesterol, diabetes, heart disease...etc.
So I look at it as a person that is taking care of themself. Just because everyone else eats a certain way, doesn't mean it has to be a cultural thing for everyone to eat that way.

Absolutely not, there is nothing wrong with restricting yourself to a vegetable diet or a non-meat diet. Its true that some vegetables contain protein like beans that are a high source of protein. So in theory you don't need protein from animal products but the truth is that proteins found in animal products such as meat or eggs are much richer in amino acids, plus you're more likely to find a variety of foods with protein among animal products than just vegetables. I would say that if you want a variety of things and don't feel bad about eating animals than eat animal products but being a vegetarian isn't a bad thing either, its just a lifestyle choice.

No vegetarians are not lesser beings. Whoever says that must be crazy! As humans, we are omnivores, meaning we can eat meat or plants/grains. It doesn't matter if one chooses to eat only one of these, we are still humans, and should be considered as equals.

I don't feel a person being a vegetarian is an unusual thing. I also don't feel it makes a man less of a man if he is a vegetarian either. It is much healthier diet since all of the animal fats that create the plaque in a persons heart are not present, in veggies of course. :)
