Does anybody know how to write the a review of studies and related literature?

I have seen a lot of thesis from different universities and they have different formats. I think it depends on what is required by your professor or your school. In my thesis and my preference when I am editing, the references, literature, studies, papers, researches, whathaveyous are categorized by different study areas that are tackled in your paper. It also depends on your writing style but I have never used the [Insert title of related study/lit here] format. The source is blended into the writing, like your second example.
