OMG a friend was going crazy because he had no cigarettes. Is that habit, that bad? I have never really smoked. Maybe one or 2 when I was a kid. But this guy smokes 2 packs per day. And as soon as the pack is gone, he gets all stressed out... till he buys the next one. Why is this habit like that?

Because smoking is addictive for some people. I know people who act the way your friend acts. It is hard for them to stop, though in my opinion, smoking isn't fun at all.. :D

I've seen people like this myself and they were almost.. like rabid or something? Very snappy and crazy, not like how they usually are at all. I know its hard to stop smoking but I didn't know it effects people so bad this way. I never will smoke because of the things my mom has had to go through.

hi mariaperalta its a physcial addiction Maria thats really hard to break. S ome people try but never succeed. My husband smoked three packs a day. He had one brush with a heart attack and the doctors told him if he stopped smoking then He could live to grow old with me but he just could not really break he habit and it eventually killed him. The nicotine killed all but twenty percent of his heart muscle. he had five heart attacks each stronger. I was with hi m to the end. hard as they asked me when do you want us to pull the plug. I had my son call my hubbys sister and she said tell them to wait til tomorrow.God took him, home an hour later so we did not have to pull the plug at all.

My mom was only able to stop because she fell into a coma for 5 weeks and when she got out they told her if she didn't stop smoking she would die. So she had 5 weeks in the hospital at least without the nicotene... after that I'm sure hearing she would die sobered her the rest from it...

Yeah smoking is really bad habit and it affects a lot to people mind, health. Almost all of my friends are smokers, but they smoke only about one pack per three days so it is not so high amount. All what I can say people don't smoke it is very bad thing you start and can't stop anymore.

Smoking is a serious problem face by all smokers all around the world. In order to terminate this habit, sacrifice need to be there, it means, smokers can survive without smoking for s whole week if the smokers made up his mind that he will give up smoking, without the determination and without sacrifice, there will be no positive effect at all, In order words, smoking kills, better to give up at early stage.

yea @ mariaperalta i am in support to what sosin123 said in his point of view, he's right. Smoking isn't good at all because i believe it reduces the life spam of people, more or less a pestilence to destroy mankind.

Nicotine addiction is the worst addiction there is and some experience it more severely than others. I smoke occasionally and when I do, I chain smoke (practically) a 40 pack. Then I don't have another for about a week. How can I do this? I have no idea but when I was trying to give up years ago, I would quit, then a day later I would be heading up the street to buy a packet. Some people are able to just quit, like I did several years ago, but then a few years later I started this habit. Some people use determination to quit and some try and fail.

That just it, I don't smoke much. I pack a week or ten days is not a lot when you consider most smokers smoke at least a pack a day.

When my husband used to smoke and he ran out if we didn't have money it was not a good time in our house. He got angry, stressed, and kind of crazy about it. I am so glad that God took smoking away from him.

It is true, I find those who smoke have a certain attitude, and personality. I know many smokers and they are alike. They all want the approval of others, have to be a big ego, and try to impress.

I gave up smoking last June... I found it very easy to do so. I do not say that to sound pious or arrogant. I always enjoyed a smoke and I did for 20 years or so...One morning I woke up and I didn't want one. After that it took only the slightest willpower. We have all heard the "Quit Smoking" stuff - We are told how much money one can save or how your health will improve. But until you want to give up, you will not give up. For the record, giving up smoking was a lot easier than giving up drinking

@robspeakman My husband was the same as you. He never smoked more than 6 to 8 a day and had no trouble stopping but me? I went up the wall I was so addicted to nicotine. On tranquilsers and used ot go to bed early with my four year old praying to go to sleep just to get through an evening. The hardest thing I ever did in life

Im so proud of that Rob.... You did the right thing. i was it was more easy for others to do it as well.

Yes, I know some who are 2-3 packs a day in the usa. Where they cost alot more than here in mx.

Well i smoke, but i see what you mean. Two boxes a day is just too much smoking. I smoke about half a box a day. And yes its horrible not having a smoke after a while. My tongue will start to water and crave the taste of the smoke going over it. Its kinda like tingly sensation on the tip of your tongue. Another thing is, smoking is also what alot of smokers do because it gives them something to do. Its quite complex. Not so strait forward.

I've slowed down and then picked upand things like that. But no i've never tried to stop. But i can tell you how it starts. It starts socially. Then you ask friends for smokes or get offered them. And soon you buying your own thats when it really picks up. You have to be careful.

Smoking is the most vicious thing I have ever dealt with. I am sorry to say that I have smoked for 15 years. Wow. It never felt like such a long long time. But thankfully, I have quit about 3 months ago, and after going through withdrawals, I am adamant about not smoking ever again.

You shouldn't judge what you don't know. Having not been a smoker yourself you can't understand what it feels like to need to smoke.

Smoking is a bad habit. Once someone got hooked or got addicted to it, its difficult to leave. I did smoke some time in my life, it was for several years. But because I know it is bad for our health, I quit. Because of great determination and willingness to change, I don't look for it anymore. We can quit, its just up to us.

Based on how many he smokes, yeah that sounds about right. From my experience it all depends on how many you are used to smoking and what you can replace them with if you run out. Back in the day if I wanted to quick for a year or so I just spent a week in bed with some good romance novels. Now days I think it would take a bit more than that to quick. Though it is on my list of things to do this year so I'll have to let you know later how easy it is for a pack a day smoker to quit. Haha.

I do not smoke and I am thankful..others I know have and yes it is a big bad habit..it is very hard too quit ..some would rather smoke than eat..one of my daughters has her own family now and she smokes and when she is out the kids leave the room or house because she get loud..and upset easy..one person tried to quit and did a few days but as soon as it smelled it on another ..went right back smoking...it is a bad habit however they can quit but they must first truely want to quit..it is all in control..sad how things can do this to cause one to lose control of one's self ..just like coffee, pop, etc..it can be habits also.. be glad you do not smoke it could happen to you...
