I cant believe this one.
I got the cable bill thursday here.
I wasnt going to open it.
I know its about $73.00, same as always.
But my son decided to open it, and place it on my bill paying boardd here in my office.
He came running into the kitche to tell me....
mom we have a problem, the cable bill is $549.00.
I said your a crazy.. he told me look.
I looked and he was right.
The cable company wrote at the bottom.
Do to a problem in the charges the last 22 months, we have been forced to adjust your bill.
So what does this mean? I owe them $549.00? they have to be crazy.
I dont care if they had a charge error, or a mental error.

I decided we aren't going to have cables, since we barely have time to watch TV and it cost way too much money! Instead, once in a while I buy a very good CD for my kids and they see it in the computer. Yet, I understand that once they'll become older I might have a problem with it.
Anyway about the bill - in my country there is a law - if they charge you too little - their problem You have an agreement with them and the most they can do is inform you that from the next month they will charge a bit more and you can choose it to stay (and pay more) or leave in the end of the month. And I'm sure you have a similar law in your country too. Agreement is an agreement and it must be kept! Don't let them off the hock here. You don't need to pay a dime!

Ask them what the charges were, and how did they miss them for 22 months! That is pure laziness on their part, and they really need to wake up a lot sooner-don't let them bully you into paying either. Ask to see what the charges actually are-it may be still THEIR error. Good luck getting that fixed.

Wow that was worth a fortune.have you tried asking them the details of the bill.they just cant say that there is a problem with billing without the necessary explanations.maybe you have availed some of their featured services before without you knowing it.

It sounds like they are back billing you and I am wondering if it has anything to do with the fact which I am assuming that you are using a private residential plan for your internet cafe business.
As the commercial usage is much heavier I am sure that the price plan for this usage is much different from private residential use. I really hope that it is a mistake, however please approach this matter with a calm temper so that there's a easy solution should my assumption is correct.
I am sure you know what I mean and how matters can be solved with certain financial compensation.

I believe you cannot blame the cable wiring contractors, you need to check what you have applied and signed up. Check your papers and go through the contract thoroughly before you talk to them.
You can always tell your service provider that you opened the cafe after your service has been effected.

Wow! That's a lot for a cable bill itself. Our cable bill is around $110 a month which is not cheap and trying cut it down since me and hubby both work and barely watch tv. I would suggest to call them and find out why you have horrible bill^_*

just tell them it's their fault for not billing you correctly and that you are willing to pay the new adjusted monthly payment but refuse to pay the retroactive portion.
I hope for your sake, that there is more than one cable company you can use because they may decide to close your account if you never pay them that amount.
Or, what I would do is this...$543 - $73 (expected amount to pay) = $470
So I would pay the $73 (or what your actual charge should be now) and then get the next bill and again deduct the $470, leaving you with the new charge of $73 (or what your actual charge should be now) and so on.
They will see that you are willing to continue paying your bill but refuse to pay any retroactive charges.
Try it and let us know how you make out with that cable company.

The only time i would have to pay that much is if i missed a month paying the cable bill. You shouldn't have to pay that much. You shouldn't have to especially due to their error. Call the cable company and talk to them and see if there isn't something you can wprk out to not have to pay this much.

That is crazy and I would also be fighting this bill for sure. If it was their problem then they need to deal with the loss. Its not your problem that someone screwed up the billing charges. I would definitely not be paying it and let them know that. They must be nuts to have sent this bill in the first place. Who has 549.00 extra dollars laying around for the cable bill? I surely hope this gets straighten out in your favor. Please let us know the outcome and good luck!

It is the cable company that is at fault. I am sure they will give you some excuse that there is a computer glitch. I would fight them and show them all the contract as well as the canceled checks you have sent them. There is no way you could owe almost $550.00 if you pay it every month.

Hello Maria
You are in situation on what none would like to be, but this is nothing new to me as well. Hmm I think it is some error which have happened when they sent the message to you and probably you own them only 54. dollars. I have seen a a lot of situations like yours on TV when companies have made their mistakes. They too are only people so don't worry and call them fast as possible. Good luck!

Please keep us posted and let us know how this goes. I know my friend got a very large bill because her son was "texting" with is cell phone and it was on a plan whereby every minute was being charged. The problem is they were not aware and there are different pricing for those that use stuff a lot. It is crazy that cable and cell phone world.

It must be a mistake. No one makes adjustments over 5 years that is crazy. Is there no indication on the bill - sorry did you say? I read through all the discussion and didn't see that. It must say what it is for? Do they have a help phone line?
I had trouble with mine and hit one not nice person and two not too sharp ones till finally this really nice woman deleted it for me. Disconnected phone line but internet was charged for over a year, after a move but that was impossible because internet came over the phone line in this case. Duh!

See thats exactly why I told Cablevision (the company in my town) where they can take the $388 bill they sent me. As of today, I got Verizon to take care of my internet and phone. As for my tv, I got a digital antenna. There isn't anything on cable television that I am missing. They are such a rip-off. The nerve of those jerks! It's a shame when it gets to the point when you don't even want to open a certain bill because you know it's going to upset you...

I almost went with them once I saw how horrible the rest of the companies were but Cablevision is the absolute worst..they charge you a month in advance and tack all these wild fees and taxes to your bill..to pay it down to a $0 balance would be nearly impossible..I was happy to tell them to turn the service off..I was even happier to go and return their box. They even charge for the remote control every month! My advice to you, get the Roku (netflix box) if you want to watch movies and if you can, get yourself a digital antenna..save yourself some cash!

So they are saying that they undercharged you for about two years and now they want you to pay all those back fees. That means they should have been charging you about a hundred per month for your services. I do not get cable, it is just too much for what it is worth in my opinion, but is this where you get your internet connection for your cafe as well? I think it is their fault, their bad book keeping and they should just cut their losses and you should decide if you want to pay their higher fees in the future.

Hello Maria. It was the cable company's fault and they should not have charged you all that. They should have written ages ago saying they were putting their prices up. If that sort of thing happened to a person in my home country he or she would probably go to the Citizens Advise Center to find out what to do. I know 22 months is close to 2 years. I suggest you phone the cable company today and say that you will go with a different company and not them now they have made such a big mistake. Good luck.

it was their fault, and of course it is the responsibility why they could be like that, more than $500 is not a small amount. They should give you the details of bill from the first month until 22 months, not only the total. Luckily I never intend to install cable tv in my house.

If it is due to a problem at their end, they should bear the loss. They should not just make you pay the bill if you had been paying the usual $73.00. Did they say what the problem was? IF they had been overcharging you, would they have refunded you? Would they even tell you?
I feel what they are asking for is unreasonable. If they don't budge, change to another cable company.

This is one reason why, when I get my internet, I am only going to have, internet only I have a cell phone, so I don't need telephone service, I don't own a TV so I don't need Tv service, so this is one way, I will keep my internet bill low.
