When a country has miserable weather people wish to go to a hot country

I worked as a children's nanny in Finland. The family asked why I wanted to come to a cold country. They said due to their climate for a vacation the people went to places like Spain, Italy and Greece. They wished for two weeks of blissful sunshine and pretty beaches to laze on.
Years ago my home country had warm summers with people on beaches enjoyed the sunshine but the sea temperature stayed rather cold. I had a happy childhood growing up with fun filled summers. Not anymore is the weather that great because some summers are cool and dull. We were lucky having a week in Cornwall in July 2012. August was dull, cool and a bit rainy.
Does your home country have defined seasons?
Did you ever suffer unseasonal weather?
Which hot countries do you think are worth traveling to?

I grew up just about two miles from the beach. It was tropical weather all around. Having gone through that kind of weather in my childhood, I wanted to move into a colder climate.
Although it could be miserable here in the winter, I do appreciate the 4 seasons that we go through here. It makes me appreciate the sun in the summer a bit more.

Now I am the opposite, I don't like the sun and the heat, to me that is miserable weather, when it's too hot that makes me miserable and my moods crash. Fortunately our UK summers have never been extreme, if I had the money I would actually escape our Summer for a colder country! Whereas most people would do the opposite to me. As you know in the UK we can have all the four seasons in just one month!

this is always the case. the neighbor's pasture is greener.. etc.. etc... i come from the philippines but i've been here in rome for ten years. the first winter was awful for me. it took a long time for my body to get used to the climate. every country is worth visiting, in my opinion. it is good to get exposed to different cultures. it enhances our perspectives and opens our minds.

Hi maximax8, I live in the tropical region and we completely don't have the chance to experience the four seasons. Here the weather is hot all the time. I dislike the dry season in the afternoon as it's so scorching that I will get sweat easily. I take more shower daily to keep myself cool and clean away from the sticky sweat with dust. I prefer to spend my vacation to countries during winter season. Chilly cold would be very awful too. It's inconvenient to have outdoor sightseeing fun. I think autumn weather is just nice for me
Happy posting

I would like to go to Italy, but then I would have to cross the rest of Canada, get on a cruiser and go across the Atlantic or take a plane and I would rather do the former. Here most of the people go to Florida or to Arizona in the States in the winter, but that is if you can afford to do so.

Some of us choose to live in northern climates, because we dislike the heat and humidity. I suffered through a year of being in Florida--too sunny, too many tornado warnings, too humid. I am better suited for snow and ice during winter and need four seasons.
We do have four seasons here, and we definitely have a winter here. I like having real seasons.

Hmm this is very nice discussion. At the moment in Latvia we have very cold winter, but at least it is last month, because in April will start spring and a little warmer weather. I would be very happy if I could have a chance to travel to some hotter countries. I can't wait summer and the hot weather and all great things about summer. I think it is worth to travel to Georgia, Spain, Brazil.
