Well, a professor at my former college was trying to help an exchange student to learn English better. She had the student start with reading children's books. Once they grasp the simple things (like what is in a children's book), they are better able to go on to more difficult parts of the English language.

I'd suggest you read fundamental Grammar books. Once your basic foundation is strong, you could read advance level Grammar books. Besides, you might want to read English novels, comics, watch Hollywood movies with English subtitles and listen to English songs. Gradually you will be able to master the language. Good luck!

I would tell you to speak with a person who is from America, make sure to pick somebody that doesn't talk in slang or stupidese, find somebody who teaches English, the best way to understand a language is to write it.

It depends on which skills will you focus on--productive or receptive skills. To be able to use English productively you should both speak and write a lot. You can find online friends to speak with or write to.

These are the ways to learn English:
1. Reading English will improver your usage and grammar of the language.
2. Searching the meaning of new words in dictionary will improve your vocabulary.
3. Watching English movies with English subtitle will improve your pronunciation and conversation.
4. Writing down any new words in a note book that you come across, and learn to use it.
5. Understand the English grammar - know the reason for its usage especially the verbs.
Happy learning!

I think Mylot is the best training ground for you. I admit also to myself that I am not that very good in English but I am very eager to learn more about so very deep English words. Grammar books can help you also with regards to your problem in English proficiency. Good luck.

I think you are approaching it in a practical way by being here at myLot. Although we native English speakers can get lazy with our language by using slang and such, at least you can see more of it.
I think coming here is brave. I don't know enough of the languages I studied in school, Spanish and French, to go try to use them where natives are speaking those languages. I would be totally overwhelmed. So congratulations to you in your efforts! You seem to be doing great!

You are already doing really well. Discussions on here will help as will any other English-medium online platform. You could ask people to suggest improvements. Practice is the best way to improve.

My lot, talking in English Language, reading English Books, listening English tutorial software. This things can help you improve your English fluency, me my self i'm not good in English because it wasn't our national language but i'm so very eager to learn English. Here in Mylot i'm try to speak in English, and i'm trying to respond in English Language since English is the general language that we are using here. Though i'm having difficulties on grammar i still try, but for me it i don't care about the grammar as long as my English is understandable enough to others.

Probably you can take advantage of tutorials online since you have said that you have your internet on at home. You can also improve by participating on discussions just like this on Mylot and talk English at home if in case you need to converse with other people, talking in English would be better.
Again these are just suggestions. It will be up to you to decide since learning is a process and it cannot be a short cut method. Try some tips that I have mentioned. One step at a time will do, its not that easy to master it all in one go.

The best is to keep on reading English books. There are a lot of help you can get online. Just search for the basic english tutorials. It would surely help you improve a lit. Also, one way would be participating in English forums and Mylot could also be a way to help you. Make it a habit to check the meanings of new words, too.

Here i will give you a great way to improve your grammatical abilities, to write correctly. And yous speaking abilities, pronounciation, your dictionary, if you will.
Watch the movies, tv shows you like, and ADD SUBTITLES. So listen to the actors talk English, but also have the Subtitles. English subtitles to learn to write the words correctly without grammatical mistakes. Your own language Subtitles in order to get what words mean, because when the actor says a sentence, and its translated in your own language just under, you slowly slowly, subconsciously start getting it. Believe me, try it :)
What is your mother tongue? if i may ask...you dont have to answer if you dont want... It's just that English is actually my third language, so i might be able to help you with anything you need, if our languages match :p
