From Zero to Ten

A response on one of my discussions had my temper going from zero to ten in a matter of seconds. It's funny how one can be calm and happy, but one random, thoughtless comment "gets your dander" up. I don't lose my temper often. I don't raise my voice hardly ever. I get that from my mom. What are some things that people can say and do that have your temper rising faster than you would expect? Does anyone have a hot temper? My sister does, and although my dad hardly ever loses his temper, when he does, he gets pretty angry. He won't say anything much, he'll just get this look in his eyes. And then he tries to calm himself down. Most people wouldn't expect that he had any kind of temper. But like I said, it's rare.

I used to be very easy raising my temper from 0 to 10 in a second. That's already in the blood. Especially when I deal with people who can't get the point of everything easily. Then my boss reminds me that this kind of temper can get me into trouble as even though I'm not raising my voice, people will easily notice that I'm angry from my face and my eyes. My students say my eyes are scary when I'm angry. And after I keep getting trouble with this temper, I finally decided to learn not to raise my temper easily. At least after so many months, I can reach only 4 or 5 from 0 and then get it back to zero at the same moment.

I will say that most people that know me would be shocked to know that I have a temper at all. I have known people for over 40 years that will vouch that they have NEVER seen me angry. I have a daughter that I swear takes after her dad or my mother and is easily and quickly given to anger. I am not above it but it takes a bit more to get me there.

Not to give you ideas, but this could be a great alibi for you in court if you get charged with murder. "Your Honor, no one has ever seen her angry. You won't find a soul who would say otherwise." Meanwhile you really did kill someone in a fit of rage.
*Hoping you take that as funny.

You are giving me ideas here and I don't think I should go there. WHEN I do get mad ...it's not pretty at all. A couple of my closest long time friends have said that they can't imagine it and don't believe me. All of my girls have seen this side of me and will vouch for it. 3 of them will say they have rarely seen it aimed at them and they are all grown...the 4th will tell you in one moment that I'm just a btch and another will be apologizing to me. e-gads! IF anyone can rile me..this girl can in 0-10 just like that. Oh wait ...we are talking about my daughter here...I'm going to ignore your murder plot. There are times.....

Hi there AmbiePam!
Well, I am not really i-ll tempered. I can say that I am relatively positive, patient and open-minded. But, I am sure that if that response had that effect on you, it might be something very offensive. Usually, when in a public place, or having conversation with other people, may it be in real life or online, I stay away from sensitive topics. Yeah, I am boring like that. I only feel comfortable having conversation about those topics when I know the person I am speaking with, and when I know that I can actually have an intellectual conversation with that person. I rarely lose my temper. I can't even remember the last time that it happened. I would probably be quiet, or cry, or drink.

I'm rarely ever calm. I am getting better at keeping it in check, turning the other cheek.. but still I get irritated quickly.. and if I'm not careful I can fly off the handle. I don't even think 10 is my limit.. I think my limit is more like 50 on a scale of 1-10.. 10 being my usual mood.

I put a lot of it on myself most of the time.. questioning and beating myself up over things that I can't just let go.. like the pile of laundry I should be doing when all I really want to do is finish this book I'm reading.. that sort of stuff.

I don't usually lose my temper easy at all. But there have been a few times here that someone has pushed my buttons per se. For example, calling me a name that was not true. People thinking I am one way when they don't even really know me, they just think they know me. I don't like being judged or called names so those two things will really get to me.

Oh I know that. My dad is like that too. It's rare that he vocalizes his anger, but when he's really angry, you can really see it to his face. I, on the other hand, pretty much gets angry and calms down almost everyday. I guess I can show emotion quickly. But now that I'm more mature (hopefully), I can now control anger. I know how to keep quiet.
Have a great mylot experience ahead!

I rarely get mad reading posts here unless the discussion maker is really asking for it. I remember here telling how bad he feels for being responded with negative comments and that he doesn't care what people think about him.And a lot of insulting stuff. I reacted but not violently. It was in tone of reminding him that this is a loving community and that he should not be posting that way. A lot have responded even if they know that it was bound to be deleted. And along with that, a lot of members reported him as well so that his account was deactivated right away.

I lose my temper when I'm insulted or when people are just grumpy at me for some worthless reason. I also get angry when I'm criticized on how I could've done something better.

Hi ! I am very emotional but my temper don't rise as quickly as it is when i was looking for someone and he can't be there for me then that was where my murmur started. Also if the house is messy ,then i can 't adjust , my head flares up easily and started to get mad with everybody in the house. From zero to ten my temper is 3 if house is messy and all out of order but if everything is inorder them my temper is 8 to 9. My temper depends in my environment .

Hi Ambie When I was younger I had a bad temper but with age and the grace of God I have learned to control it. I find it takes too much energy to get angry.

Most people think I am calm, but I am not, and it is something I am working hard towards. I have a bad temper but I guess outwardly I am able to appear calm hence the general opinion. I need to develop my inner self towards my outer self:)

I can get mad easily; however, am working on this with deep breathing and counting to 10. Its working sometimes, but many times found I have to back away from the problem. Its not easy when its somebody I usually agree with them.

I say I should come with the warning. I go from nice to b!tch in 6 seconds. Yes I do have a temper. There are few key words that are triggers. Once pushed it is war. Most of them are stupid and homophobic and or racist.

Still waters run deep! When I do...it's a Nuclear blast! And that is seldom. Boil over points...animal abuse, child abuse, spousal abuse..and blatant ignorance..like bullying! Not a pretty sight...am not proud of when I do.....BUT it's about as often as a Blue Moon!

I can be the best friend you can find on earth....but if you push me and make me mad I'll be the worst enemy you can find. It takes alot to get me mad but say something about one of my kids or grandkids or a friend that isn't nice and watch all h*ll break loose! Another thing I find that does make my temperature boil quickly is when I am eating and someone says....are you going to eat all that? LIke what the heck do you think? That you have the right to say something like that? LOL.....I am a smidge overweight so I guess that part of me has a short fuse!

i seldom get mad also. only time is if someone puts down one of my kids or if someone tries to say im dumb or stupid. they can say a lot of things to me but if they act like im just stupid that gets me. it was one of my biggest issues with my first 4 husbands the last one always said nice things about my mind. love of my life.
