When I come across racism either I annoy it and consider the source or confront the person. Depending on what was said and to whom. People who are racist are ignorant and were not brought up learning to get along with all people. So for them the cycle continued and that is why its still here today. Unfortunately I don't believe we will ever see it gone completely because people are just to set in their ways. Of course things have gotten better since the 60's but we need alot more change. I have all races in my family, from white, black, italian, puerto rican, etc... In fact my two daughters and my three grandkid all have black in them. They also have White, Puerto Rican, English, Italian, Irish and Czechosiovakian. What a combination right? When there is a family reunion its like the United Nations and I love it!

Some people just feel superio over other race. it is funy, yhough that even after so manny years that slavery is no longer in existence, still some people treat dark colored race as being the underdog.

I have encountered racism at work when i was a manager and took great joy in dealing with it swiftly. The racism i encountered was not coloured but anti English nonsense.
If i was out on a social evening i would not be so official. Racism is a neandrathal state of mind which is inexcusable.
To go off topic, i tried to answer your discussion on user names and i was going to tell you that it would prob get deleted and it did when i was looking through who had answered you as that can be a giveaway to weather you have been reported you or not.
So as an extra bonus on this discussion, you get two answers for the price of one!
My user name is my first, middle name and last name initials with my 3rd serious incarnation on mylot....so it is Alfred Jedikiah Klondyke the 3rd.

I encountered racist as well, I just couldnt stand it sometimes. There's no sense for them of being like it.
Anyway, in your off topic I didnt know that i will be a problem, and when it was gone, i read the guidelines again and there you go! ahaha. But its okay though. So its a win win here! hehe

I had a boss who was racist against me. I worked at a Daycare at the time. She said she only hired a white person because the state said she had to, she told me otherwise no white people would be working in my daycare!
I was shocked! I did not let her bother me, I did my job and ignored her comment. When I hear racism of any kind I walk away from it, I don't agree with it no matter who it comes from...
We are all people.

I had some young people in the same building I lived in and they didn’t want me to go down the elevator with them. I noticed on the street they would park in the middle of the road to block the local traffic then pretend they didn’t understand when one man had to go on the sidewalk with one tire to get around them. After he passed they turned to each other and laughed.
On the front windshield of their vehicle there was a large decal with the words, black power. I don’t know but I sensed they had a chip on their shoulder or something. I guess being racism can present itself to anyone.

Ethnicity does not matter. Me and my friends make loads of jokes with our foreign friends and they find it funny, and don't take it the wrong way! They joke about us as well and it's all good fun. But I guess a lot people still have this... "thing" about other races, either because they're afraid of them or they think they are going to rob them or steal their jobs. Just IGNORE!

I also feel bad other this racism.
Some people are too rude and inconsiderate.
We are all equal no one is born less than the other.
I just ignore people posting racism on the net,the more we comment- the more comments they become popular.

I guess it's easy, you just don't deal with them.
I've worked in a big multi-national company in the past, and I've seen some people who I've considered racist. Just like how they don't seem to show much care about other people and other races, I also show them that I don't seem to care much about them.

We are unique creation by the Almighty. You see the same blood flowing through out the whole body whatever religion or race you belong. A great question always hammers my mind why we differentiate each other in the name of religion or color or race or any other. No religion preaches against the peace. If you are racist, you are going against very essence of peace and creating anarchy in the society.

Hey butterfly,
According to me one of the most dangerous disease which is spreading rampantly these is ethnicity. People having same thoughts and opinions will tend to form a group naturally. But it is good if they are in a single group and go good for the society. But if they turn out to be prejudiced, and do not want see others benefit in any manner which is dangerous. The only way we can address the problem is aiming for change right from childhood level and nurture their behaviors all along life.

Realy, there is no stoping them. The only thing you can do is to do nothing! Thats because you have to take there power away. So if you just dont respond to them, then it will be pointless for them to do anything. Spread the word!!!!!!!!!!

I don't put up with racists. I'll speak up. Fortunately the only place I normally see it is online, because I don't hang out with bigots. So since it's online, I turn them in to the site administrators.

I have never experience racism (thank God !!) and I have been around all race of people . I think you will experience racism more around older people so maybe because of my age group I have not encounter that .
I was starting to think racism is not popular this time and age but online I am always hearing people experiencing it , that is so sad . I have never treated anyone any different because of their race and I have never been treated differently because of my race .
If that do happen one day I would just ignore that person because obviously they are insecure and is trying to make you feel bad so they can feel better about themselves . Stand out , be confident and rise above their hate .

Just forget about it. always remember Different folks with different strokes. then that's it. as long as you don't discriminate others you can not ask all to do be like you...

i'm asian but i live in europe and so i know what you're talking about. racists are people who have not been educated well. whenever i hear a racist comment, i just let it pass thru the other ear. you see, i know for myself that racists are ignorant people so why should i be bothered by their opinions?
