Oh, I could remember when my desktop suddenly gave up on me last year. I truly struggled for several months. It took a toll on my productivity because all my files were on that computer (yes I did back it up online but still the "comfort" was really sacrificed). I guess I was lucky because I got a small netbook (small laptop).
But to be using tablet or kindle for something like typing, would certainly be punishing me a lot! I have tried using tablet to make presentations and excel programs, and they're really not that comfortable to use. My productivity decreased by a total half that time.
I'm just lucky that my brother loaned me his desktop because he got two. I was really thankful. I am now still accumulating funds in order to buy myself a new desktop. It's my goal this year, and I really hope that I could attain it as soon as possible.
As for the kindle or tablet shutting down all by itself, I have encountered such with the tablet when the app suddenly incurred some problem. But it didn't shutdown, it just restarted itself. As for Kindle, I don't really have one so I cannot relate with you on that. But if the Kindle is already old, then perhaps it's the depreciation signaling that it need replacement soon (God forbid!).
Anyhow, hang in there. Have a great mylot experience ahead!

Hi,
Sorry about the laptop, maybe it can be repaired? It can be done but by a qualified technician and with cost that can buy a brand new one, that is, some component need to be replaced. The Kindle should not do that, I am not a user of that gadget but it is not usual for it to "sleep" for days if used extensively. You should have it returned for warranty check up to the supplier.

Hi rogo 0322, It is just so old and already been repaired so much that I believe it is beyond another repair.

I would contact Amazon's customer support, particularly if your Kindle is still covered by the warranty. It should not be shutting down for days at a time regardless of how much you are using it.
