Do you trust your GPS?

If you think GPS is accurate, you are wrong. I am watching a show right now where a family got lost in the middle of a desert. The GPS led them to the middle of nowhere. Their cellphones have no signal and they got stocked there for 3 days. I guess it is really better that you know where to go than trust the GPS. If you have to use a GPS, its recommended to keep it updated to provide the best chance of not getting lost.

Eventhough how advanced we may become with technology, I do not think that it would really be the same without having to go back to the old ways of relying on the maps. There had been several incidents reported about malfunctioning GPS devices. So, this should remind us to keep a map always handy.

Yeah, even when we have GPS, we need to double check it or something. Like mapquest it and print so we wont get lost.

That's bad, how does it happened? its not the fault of the service provider of the GPS that they are using? Is the update option of the GPS like maps is not automatic? Thanks for the news you posted here, now i have to update my GPS. This is a scary situation.

I know that's right! We went to NY one year. We were going to stop by and visit my childhood girlfriend in Saratoga Springs. The GPS kept saying we were at our destination and we were in the middle of a bridge! Also it got us lost in Mississippi. We went to visit my grandson and his wife. It got us lost in a swamp. We were so scared. We finally got out and found our way to a motel that night and called in the light if day to get directions.

GPS is good but networking sometimes has problem and disconnect that. It is good to know the way by stars specially for those who travel in desert.

I was about saying the GPS is not updated before I even got to the end of the sentence. In as much as some electronic gadgets are not as precise as natural knowledge, they help us sometimes in getting to an unknown destination. But just as you said, detail knowledge of where you are going to is paramount.

I have never had any problems using my GPS it has always got me to where I want to go.Though You have to be sensible in how you use the GPS.The main thing you need to do is keep it up to date,so it has accurate maps and can dirrect you the correct way to your destination. You also need to use your common sense when using one,I have heard stories of people going the the wrong way down one way streets because the maps are inaccuarate and people just follow the SatNav blindly without looking at sign posts.I have also heard of lorry drivers getting in difficulties like getting stuck under low bridges etc due to using a GPS designed for cars not big vehicles such as lorries.

Hi, my big brother is using GPS on his car, actually he already travelled to somewhere else, with the help of GPS, he can easily find a way to go to his destination, for me, and for him, GPS is accurate I guess.. It is just depend on how the user config that GPS

Gps help to get an idea of where you are, but in a practical sense I dont think they work very well. I don't trust them at all, but I would trust less in my exploring capabilities!
