In the movie Pride and Prejudice, Mr Darcy was often looked at as arrogant. But later on defends himself as shy and one who prefers to talk to someone who made sense.
Do men really project themselves as this?
I have a few guy friends who disagree that they are arrogant, instead they say they are just really shy especially in front of women they find very interesting.
What can you say about this?

I know a lot of men using arrogance as a protection mechanism from getting hurt. For instance, I had a boyfriend who looked the most arrogant person I had ever known and he would not even introduce himself when he met with people for the first time but after I get to know him ( and it was by my effort)I realized actually that he is just a shy person. But of course there are also some men that are arrogant and showing how they are. But for me, even if Mr. Darcy was arrogant, he was a perfect match for Lizy Bennet.

They may be really shy and in order to remain inslow profile, they keep this distant attitude towards others. But many of this arrogant men deep down are really nice and tender. But Darcy really is arrogant but so cute!

There are guys who are arrogant and act arrogant. Then there are those that act arrogant to screen their vulnerability, in front of someone they like or not, I wouldn't know. Then there are those that are arrogant but do not project this, and you find out later on when you get to know them and I hate it, but I'd rather find out than not at all.
